I don't think it's the deer ticks. Up here it's the winter ticks. They are so abundant right now that a moose can have over 100,000 ticks on them. They get so weak from all the blood loss they can't survive the winter. I'm pretty sure that's the same problem in Vermont.
Congrats Dave on a fine young bull. I have a buck that had the right main beam bend while in velvet and heal up like that. Neat conversation piece. 4 more weeks until our moose opener.
