Well made my last trip to the mountains and got one more load. So it is now time to start bucking and splitting wood. Weather will start to turn cooler here so that will make a big difference for handling wood.
How far do you have to go to get wood like that? I didn't see anything growing in your picture except for some very sparse grass.
Woo hoo, that's a whole lot of heat there partner. I wouldn't have the space to put all that wood unless I make a firewood fence around my property. .
I'm already on that plan. Works nice because it doesn't get in the way like stacks in the middle of the driveway, like I also have. Best wood stack fence is a guy on the southbound side of the Saw Mill Pkwy. One single row of stacks with a shingled A-frame type roof. Has a bunch of them on the property line. They look great.
It's before Grant Street as I remember. Being retired I don't travel the SMP too often. If I can, I will get a pic of it next time I'm down that way. These look professionally custom built.

It is 100 miles one way to the mountains. It cost me about 40 dollars in diesel fuel. It is usually a all day trip.
There is no hurry to get it all split and so I will take my time. I will get it all done before December.
The worst winter was the one before last, and if I remember correctly, six cords. Last year I burned a half cord and the rest was oil, as it was soooo cheap. I'm in the eastern part, by CT.
You are right about that winter. It was a cold one like we haven't had in several years. Snow so deep, we ran out of places to put it.
The snow got so high that one of our dogs just walked over the 4' fence. Had to dig a moat on the inside to keep him in.
Yeah but you likely have a trailer. Im sure Ive seen a trailer in some of your pics. For me I have to watch the gas on those long trips since I can only fill a 6 foot box in my Ram. Most of the time I dont care though because for me its more about having a healthy hobby that saves me a bit of money. Im sure my wife appreciates me being in the woods instead of the bar. I agree with yooperdave that it looks like nice clean wood
I did some cutting today as well as some splitting. I have pics of the cutting, but none from the splitting as it got too late, there are two sawbucks under that wood.
Thanks Sean, I got about a quarter of it split, but I was stacking the wheelbarrow when it got full of splits as I was going along.
