...I ran out of space for my main stack a while back. I had a ditch at the one end that kinda had me stopped in my tracks, and I had some leftover culvert pipe from my ditch job a few weeks back, so we made use of that area beside the stack. I officially have room for 6 more 5.5' x 5.5' skids. Like I need it....lmao The area in the bottom left of the pic was where the ditch was.... Now, it's gone.....WOOOHOOO!! Time to start filling 'er up!!
My wife wanted a fence back there, I'm just honoring her request (as she shakes her head in disbelief).......
That dirt pile is all topsoil we just removed from my future "pizza oven outdoor bistro". We excavated that out last weekend as well. As for the topsoil, I've already got a spot for that. Along the sidewalk on the opposite side of the garage.
You know, I was just wondering a couple days ago weather cross-stacking all the way across my three-wide rows periodically would aid in air movement through the stack. When I saw your previous stack pics, I didn't make the connection that they were cross-stacked all the way across the "cube." I guess it's hard to say for sure, but do you think it has helped?
I've had great success with it Woody. I like to do those criss cross rows every 6'-8' down the stack to keep it stable. As for seasoning, it hasn't seemed to affect it one way or the other. All of my wood has 5 years to season, that may be a factor too..... Good to see you, I was wondering how you've been!
Looking forward to your outdoor oven project Scotty Overkill . Do you have any plans or ideas on what you want to build? I enjoy Jons pics when he cooks outdoor with his oven.
It's gonna be a one-off, borrowing ideas from fishingpol and others. I promise to do an in-depth post when the time comes......
I know how much you like outdoor cooking, you'll really enjoy it. I have a new cooking recipe to make this weekend to celebrate some cool fall weather. I'm going to send you a page to look at on FB. A local sign artist just finished a real nice oven with a roof over it.
