Hi all, I am thinking about having a one day thing at my farm end of October or beginning of November to cut, split, and rank my paps firewood. His health has deteriorated over the summer and he isn't able to do it( he is bullheaded and tries still though). It would be at the same place the pa gtg was held. Scotty Overkill said he would do some cooking and possibly climb and top a big dead ash that needs removed. So what are your thoughts what would work best for people? Also we would like to discuss having another gtg next year any ideas?
We'll probably do it on a Sunday because of archery season.......and we'll have some awesome old saws there to run. I'll be bringing my ported Stihl 051, the 1957 Pioneer RA I'm working on now, the 1959 Stihl Contra, as well as others! Chris even mentioned possibly running the big mill on those ash logs from the tree were going to drop...... It'll be a fun day. We'll probably do some smoky ham, bacon and bean soup on a big kettle over the fire and maybe even smoke a whole deer on the big cooker.....you won't want to miss it!!
The timing might be a bit challenging but we'll see what we can do. Is DexterDay still planning on a gtg in October?
How many people are you looking for cwn877 ? How much are you looking to cut and split? I'd be interested in coming even if it's just to meet some more FHC folks. I'm sure I could lend a hand with something. I'm coming from southeastern Mass so it would be a long drive depending on what part of PA I'll keep an eye out
Backwoods Savage I'm not sure what Dex has planned haven't talked to him. My IS heats my home number of people doesn't matter all are welcome it's just going to be a one day thing. I'm located in pretty much the center of the state near altoona you are more than welcome to come if you don't mind the drive. Redfin I will pm you when we decide, all the further away you are you have an open invitation buddy.
I am having a GTG... But it's more of just a gathering/work party. I have just over 2 tons of Pellets that need put downstairs and I'd like to fill my woodshed. I do have some wood to split and stacks and 3 or 4 trees that need taken down in my tree line and CBS. It's the weekend of Halloween. Anyone is invited. But as I said, it won't include a lot of saws running. Or it may if my neighbors will allow me to have "others" cutting back on their property since they said I can cut all the ash I want from there. But it's mainly a friendly, bs'ing, little work to prepare for this upcoming season, etc..
