    First burn picture.

    WP_20160917_18_19_04_Pro.jpg

Still got a way to go on the house, as you can tell, but finally got the outside wall closed up today and some windows in. To celebrate, I put the stove in as well, and lit it tonight. :banana:It smells a little from the paint, but not too bad.

I wonder if I will want to incrase the chimney a little, it is right at 15 feet, which is minimum, but opening the door lets smoke in the house. We'll see, once I figure out the new burn technique. It seems a bit different than the Allnighter it replaced.

Alright  fire in the hole.
Maybe you're just getting a little smoke because of the outside temperature.
There's a learning curve there with a new stove.
It will be harder to figure out in shoulder season compared to when it gets cold

Upgrading insulation and sealing air leaks. It had R13 in a 5.5 inch cavity. :headbang: And serious leakage.

I also installed the window you see there and another.

Getting a little secondary burn now, blue flames dancing near the tubes. Cool, I am going to like the glass door!

Watching the fire is nice too but, you can tell how you're stove is running at a glance too.
It is really cool going from an old stove to a secondary burn stove, watching the Flames dance around in there

I don't know if you will want to do this because your stove is so low but, I marked my rod, much easier for me to tell where I am at, because a little movement makes a big difference,, sometimes 1/8"

    'Bout dang time! :dex::)
Yep, like HD said, until the outside temp drops, you may get a little smoke spillage. Try opening the door real slow all in one motion. You may need to mess with it some.
Mine does the same thing, and I've got about 18-19' from the hearth floor (which is how you measure on this stove) to the cap.

Nice bushpilot! I was eye balling that stove at HD yesterday. Good sized firebox and a nice stove.

Is that hole on the front the secondary air inlet? Does it light easier if that is blocked (for lighting only), so that it draws only through the doghouse?

interesting to see where the air wash intake is . is there another like that by the other front leg? When I got mine the pedestal was already on it so never new exactly where those were. Its not exactly a item you just causally toss around on it's side and such. particularly by yourself.

Hmm, I looked at mine, and it is not there. I guess it is hidden under the pedestal.
I might be doing this, probably after I put it on a raised hearth.

I have 15 feet from the base. When I put a raised hearth under it, I will likely add another 3 feet up top, assuming I don't do it before then.

    Thanks for the pointers everyone!

Secondary air is in the back, under the stove. Primary is right next to it.
There are also 2 small holes (about the size of a dime) in the bottom of the stove right behind the front corners which provide air to the "doghouse".....or "blowtorch", as you'll notice at some point.

Here is a full height photo, it goes 9 feet up through a cathedral ceiling, and then 6 feet of stainless steel DVL chimney on top.
Excuse the mess, it is still a construction zone. And I didn't do the framing of that wall - just sayin'.:picard:

I was noticing that lowsy wallframing! Also the harbor freight sheetrock lift. I love that thing. The stove will help you dry all the mud.
