This is what happens when you don't realize your partner has cast right behind you from the other end of the boat, and you hook his line as you cast. And just spooled up with new braid, with two fish on it.
Ouch! That's a nasty bird's nest ya got there. Shame to have to cut out new line. At least no one was hurt.
They were hitting, too. Took a couple hours to find fish, but the wind had picked up a lot and pushed the baitfish toward the end of the lake, where we finally found the bass. I think the wind was probably the biggest reason for the errant cast, and then the anchor wasn't really holding the boat and it may have turned a bit. We usually work well together. I always have multiple rods ready to go. Not necessarily for this kind of situation, but more to have several of my favorite rigs to throw. I did end up cutting the bait off this one and tying it on another, because that's what worked. I got it straightened out this afternoon. I cut out probably only 30' of line.
I think even when I was brand new with a baitcaster, I never had any that bad. One of them things. Prolly never happen again.
