    If you bring the hounds, likely a drooling flash flood!

    Looks like it will be a blast. Wish it wasn't 2600 miles away!

    The BBQ teams started arriving today, so far there ar 19 teams signed up, the furthest is from Texas. These folks don't mess around when it comes to BBQ, although I get the impression that amongst the teams it's like a big family. The competitive BBQ circuit is a big deal.

    The BBQ teams don't serve the public at these events, they are only there for the competition. Hopefully I cn get a few tasters from them, really looking forward to chatting with them. We are putting on a big lobster bake for all the team members. There are a bunch of food vendors signed up to sell food. My buddy, the organizer of the event is a BBQ caterer. He has enlisted me to run his booth for the weekend as he will be busy with other things. My daughter is selling lemonade/iced tea to raise money for a class trip. Bunch of bands playing all weekend, should be fun. Any money made by the event will be given to charities or used as seed money for next years event.

    Sounds like a really good time! I hope your daughter makes a ton of dough for the trip. And looks like you'll have your hands full as well, enjoy! I hope the weather is good :)

    Tomorrow is the official KCBS competition day.

    In addition to the official competition the teams will prepare shoulder and ribs donated by Sam's club and sell sample size portions to the public, then the public will vote for a "people's choice"

    Oh if you live in Maine and want the best bean hole beans AND see what logging was like in the late 1700's you have to go to Lenard Mills in Bradley when they are doing an event. They put on a great feed and just like the old days (minus the story of the sock that once fell down in the coffee brewing in the old Ram Pasture as logging camps were called back then). :)

    Sorry I will miss the event, but cook those lobster up right, we can't have them thinking we don't even know how to boil crustaceans. :)

    Joke:
    A Lobster, A Crab, A Haddock, A Chinese Guy run over by a steam roller; now pick out which one does not belong!
    It is the Haddock of course!

    Wait for it...

    The rest are "Crushed-Asians".:rofl: :lol::rofl: :lol::rofl: :lol:
    (Disclaimer, no Chinese people were actually injured in original telling, or retelling, of this joke).

    Great day today!

    Estimating 2000 people. Just at my buddies booth we sold 50 racks of ribs and 20 shoulders.

    Here's his rig. A Lang cooker.

    Honest fun time. Thanks for sharing. Just found this link today. Hope you are able to spin it into a tradition. You have a fantastic setting to have this event in.
