Ever wished your tractor just a wee bit more traction, but did not really want to go with a bulldozer? Well why not put square wheels (rectangular actually) on your tractor and have the best of both worlds.
Because I have a lot of wet areas on my farm, and must wade through some deep snow at times, my little tractor was limited to where it could go, so I often cut wood too hard in places and none at all in others. The simple answer was tracks. I looked a lot of different options, but these did not seem practical over the long term. Mattracks was promising, but then I found they wanted $39,000 for a set for my tractor. That is all well and good, but even if it does allow for a front-end-loader and 3 point hitch and PTO, a bulldozer with the same would run you 1/2 the cost (though it would be a small, cheap China knock-off). Mine has a PTO, but no 3 point hitch or front end loader, but it was also 1/4 of the cost of the Mattracks at $10,000. (A used John Deere 350D) Interestingly enough I found out I do not really use my dozer for logging that much per se. I would never be without one now, but I actually use it just to build skid roads for my tractor to drive on. With wheels and the Wallenstein it is just faster, saves fuel and nets me more money. But without the dozer, I would not have good trails. It also pushes brush out of the way well, so areas that are almost inaccessible, in 5 minutes time are suddenly opened up and ready to be logged. I guess what I am saying is the tractor/dozer makes for a nice team in the woods.
