I spent a good part of the day getting the stove ready for the burning season.
Started off on the roof cleaning the SS chimney, then went in side and got to work on the stove and stovepipe.
I vacuumed out the stove, removed the burner tubes and ceramic fiber board...cleaned everything up pretty good.
I had given the screws for the burn tubes a shot of penetrating oil, then numbered the tubes with a marker as I removed them.
I washed the glass and wiped the stove down.
I ended up getting new stove pipe and elbows, sealed all the joints with furnace cement, secured all connections with screws.....oiled the blower too.
I have about 2 years of wood split stacked and seasoned. I have about 4 or 5 cord waiting to be split....I'll get to that in the next few weeks.

Sounds like your in good shape! All I can suggest is check batteries in the smoke alarms and co meters. :)

I'm still trying to get mine installed. I put the chimney up on Saturday, hopefully this week I can build the hearth, and maybe have the stove in by next week? I hope so, fall is definately here.

I didn't salvage anything from the AllNighter installation that I pulled out, everything is new.

also check the manufacture date of the detectors , most meters have a useful life of 5 to 7 years tops

For those new to this, you only need to remove the frontmost tube to remove the baffle boards. No way to lose track of the which tube is which if you only remove the front one.

Good advice on the detectors, all of mine are about 2 years old...and we change the batteries every halloween.
I remember from other posts about just needing to remove the first tube....but I said what the heck, I'll number them as I remove them and it'll be easier to clean and vac everything.
Bushpilot, you gonna be able to fire up the stove before you install it?

It's nice to see other guys getting their stoves ready, I did mine on Sunday. I checked welds, joints, checked the firebrick and soapstone and all the moving parts.
Everything looked good. Finished up by washing the glass.

It is just around the corner, I want to pull my cat and have a look then pull the blower and have a look at that also. Everything else I did when I shut it down.

Thanks for your reply, you helped remind me of something else I want to do, give the cat a bath.
