Up and at it this morning. Dark outside. First day of school is just teachers and workers so tomorrow it will be pandemonium. I think we are in for some wet weather this week. The fish streams need it and so does the logging. My garden is soaking it up and the grass is growing wild.

So far I put up 300' of fence this morning. Things went well. A few progress shots. image.jpeg

Then I was off to my parents for lunch. Left overs from their family get together on Labor Day. Tasty tater salad, pasta salad, and some left over peanut butter pie!

Then to the mill for load #3. I think this was the heaviest load yet. Testing the 3/4 Ton Silverado!

All is well with me. New job has been fantastic. I work 5pm to 1am on the clock and then most week nights i work 1am to 8am on call/commission.

I work on firewood usually for about 2-3 hours a day.
Past few days though, ive been exhausted.

I usually go in early to hang out and see what had gone on for the day and then when i come back at 8am
to turn in my truck, i hang out for a bit also to chat with the day time guys and what not.

I got home around 945 this morning, and then we went out for breakfast.
Got back from breakfast, took a shower and went back to bed.
Just woke up around 315pm. Ready to start my evening.

Well went off to son's soccer game. They won 5-0 so he was happy. I was hoping to get a little more fencing up, but I am feeling pretty comfy in my chair right now.

I hear you. It's been hot and muggy since Saturday here.

Worked late tonight, decided to get out and split a half dozen rounds to keep the rust off the maul...and me, then walked the dogs with my bride.

Watching a BBC series, Poldark, on public TV as I wait for the grill to warm up. Beer brats for me, and meatless hotdogs (yes...you heard me) for my vegetarian bride. :)

Not sure. But you are probably not far off. Maybe a little heavier.

I wish they had stacked some of the stuff in the front a couple of layers higher over the axles to reduce that tongue weight. But judging by the tires, they had a load on them.

Unfinished bench project #3. This was started back in 1995 and it developed a crack in the front. It sat on a shelf since. I decided tonight it should be a decorative gunning decoy.

Two hours later. I need to work the shine out of the finish.

Ive experienced the zombie within me a few times now.. lol

Its just that this line of work is perfect to me. I enjoy it a whole bunch.

How often i go out varies..
Ive had nights after 1am when i am at home and on call be non stop.
I mean.. I'll get called out and then be on my way back home or dropping one off
and get another call.. Sometimes it'll be 2 or 3 hours later.

Same goes for when i am on the clock from 5pm to 1am.
Ive had back to back calls before or ive had them spread out.
    Not sure which i prefer..

Tonight i went about 115miles total.
Picked up an AWD Trailblazer with our flat bed, delivered it about 38 miles away.
Immediately after i went and picked up a 91 ford f150 and a VW Passat from a guy
In another town about an hour south. Brought both back, they were at his ex wives
house i guess.. Guy is a local and friend of the owner i drive for.
Not 20 minutes later i had to go out and jump start an AMG Mercedes about 40
minutes south.. Drove past the town on my way back with the ford and vw.. lol
    So that kinda stunk..

Starting this job, i had zero tow truck specific experience.
According to the owner and his son, they think i lied and they think ive
got atleast 3-5 years experience. LOL

    Pretty neat stuff..

I drove our flatbed for the first time this evening.
Well, out on the road atleast. Ive toyed with it in our lot and im the one that
does the maintenance on all of our trucks so ive been in and out of it a few times.
Its a peterbilt with a cummins and an allison trans.

Time for my caffeine too. Morning Eric VW. Unfortunately I have to go to the real job today and don't think Ill have time to get much done after that. The grass is growing so fast I will need to cut grass as soon as I get out of work. Rain will be coming tomorrow.
