As I have been reading some of your post I am assuming you are from the "Old country" as all of my German relatives call it. If I am incorrect, please forgive me. That being said, what I was trying to convey is the fact that some times trying to over engineer the simple things makes the machine much less user friendly. While you may be able to repair any saw that you please many of the common wood cutters with a limited amount of mechanical skills and the lack of funds to afford the "Perfect saw" would probably not be willing to call a tech to come to the woods with a laptop and a diagnostic programmer to get you going again like it takes with so many tractors or cars or bikes any more. As far as smoke signals go, well, I would rather just yell really loud because I cant afford to burn a hole in a blanket. And then this "why you go to doctor and make a x-ray test when you have a health problem you can easy go to a magician like the zulus in the africa" Dont you dare go there my friend what with the situation my wife and I am in right now. Dont even bring up the health care and insurance issue to me bud. Have a great day and good luck on the saw deal.

usually i dont hide back on my finger i delete it because my post come with your question not because of south africa and if you like to listen the story i will tell it

the 661 come first in europe before one or more year come to usa many peoples here buy it before the famous recall come i know many of theese noone until now dont have tell something that the saw give him a problem and i speak for pro loggers
then for unkown reason the stihl decide to recall theirs top notch model and making about one or more year to start again the production if the stihl need a one year to solve the problem then the member who start a thread the saw dont work maybe need his all life .

or they serve the soup to the peoples just because this time was many of the 660 around and of course who is the stupid to buy the old when the new is out , or they must loose tones of money and putting the price of the 660 about 30% - 40 % off just for selling them

personally i was the first in my country that i order this 661 not even the dealer know it well but sorry i hit the wall ( recall ) then the dealer offer me 30 % off and some gifts if i buy the 660 , what a good boys in the stihl

so my good friend analyse much more what hide under the table and dont believe what the stihl - husqy serve you just because they have create the big name

Garbage? Dude, who are you? Are you from one of those countries in Europe where the government let all those Muslim "refugees " in , and now almost every week there is another terrorist attack on indigenous population. How is your government protecting you and your family?

I ain't that guy. Not my job. Not for me to say anything anyways, but I care about this forum and the public exposure it has.
So that being said.....you ( pantelis ) bring a different angle to things which is enjoyable, so how about we see that instead?

Pantelis, how about we start over. I'm not sure if you ever posted about the size of the wood you work with over there. How about some pictures?

the sizes are depend on what job are you maybe cut small for firewoods and big for industries sure not so big like some west coast trees but sometimes the 461 looking like a toy
usually no time for pictures and videos when you are in production line but i make some videos and take some photos

I wish Husky and Stihl would just leave the patent rights behind and merge the two saws. I run both types, but each has their strong points. I like the fact that Stihl can run longer than 9 months, BUT husky sure has a nice anti-vibration system! And putting a chain on a Stihl is so much simpler, but if their chain brake was Husky, the silly thing would not break. And Husky's stop switch is nice in that you can never leave it "off" and crank, and crank, and crank.

That is what I mean by merging the two. I know it will never happen, and collectively two companies provided competition that makes the word a better mousetrap, BUT it would make for a nice saw now!

My 445 has been running for 4 years with minimal maintenance.....for what it's worth:whistle:
Ok, not so much in recent months. But that's not the saw's fault- my lower back has been the problem.

Little late to the party but I've been reading along with you all. Great ideas so far.

I think it's tough to design something to fit everyone's needs. That's why there are so many options currently.

If we were talking dream saw I would want a saw with a case made of something lighter than magnesium and tougher than titanium. A minimum of plastic would also be a must. EFI and the power of a 70cc saw that weighs and handles like a 50cc saw.

Harry Homeowner would need an entirely different machine though.

Yeah I hear ya. I can't get anything out of a Husky for whatever reason. But my old Pioneer, now that is a different story. It is out in the woods everyday and has been for 22 years, that is because after trying to start it over and over again, I finally threw it up over the brush pile and that has been where it sat every since. I would not even give that saw the dignity of sending it to a scrap yard! Oh back at the house it would start, but once it went for its ride into the woods it just decided it was all done! Of course once you went back home it would start. I guess it was a mamma's boy. Well now it is a Hemlock's Boy and I am happy with that!
