What is this? Oil pan for autos? Old camping/cooking pot? I was hoping to use it under plants to catch water but I don't need rust on the floor either... Any other uses?

Enameled roaster....bottom half. As long as there's no cracks in the bottom side, it won't rust.
But rottiman's idea is a sure fire one.

Yep, Eric has it right. Just spray paint any chipped areas with enamel paint, and you will be good to go for use under planters. Actually, just paint the whole thing with a cheerful color (or 2 or 3) of enamel paint. Just make sure to let it dry a couple of days before placing on a surface to ensure the paint is set.

As some of you know I fell off a ladder Saturday and broke my elbow. I went to the orthopedist today and got some good news. I don't need any surgery and since it's my elbow they don't put a cast on it because they want you to start bending it ASAP. I can't work or drive for the next 3 weeks and I have another appointment then and hopefully they can tell me when I can go back to work. Im just grateful that it wasn't worse.
    Thanks for the nice comments.

Just wanted to share with everyone that I hate plumbing (and pretty much any kind of handy man task ... I'm just not handy :headbang::hair:). Watched a youtube video on how to change kitchen sink strainers ... piece of cake except it is almost impossible for me to find any room to work below the sink and the dang lock nut is fused to the pipe and the whole darn unit just spins. After breaking my knuckles several times and cutting myself in 3 places I called in plumber to rescue the day. All you handy men (and women) out there, pat yourselves on the back and have a cold one to salute your talent. :salute:

As for me, I've learned the best thing for me to do is to cut and stack more wood as the yearly heating saving can be used to call in the professionals from time to time.

Can't help but feel a bit like Tommy Boy today ... Fat Guy in a little Space! Ha Ha, a little humor always makes me feel better. A bit of venting is quite therapeutic!
