I really like ice coffee, but I hate having to go out for it. So I looked the net over and found a couple of ways to make really good ice coffee. I am using a French coffee press, but you can use about any thing you want.
Not in a hurry. 1/3ed cup ground coffee and 4 cups of water (about 90 F) Not hot not cold, just a little warm. Cove and let sit for about 8 hrs. strain, and pour over ice. Add your own flavorings. I use stevia and half and half.
In a hurry, Us 1/3ed cup ground coffee and two cups hot water. let sit about 5 min. then filter and pour over ice and flavor.
I use the French press because it is so easy to filter the coffee grounds. Unused coffee can be kept in the refrigerator for nearly a week.
Half and half has about 20 calories per tablespoon. Not a bad snack when you are feeling like having something.

I like iced coffee when it's warm out. Your recipe sounds good. Dawn usually makes it here, not sure what she does, but it's good.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who drinks iced coffee, that doesn't come in a cup with a fancy name. I always thought my mother was a nut for liking it when I was younger, and now I love it.:D

Cold brew is fantastic, but I haven't found an easy way of making it at home. Sounds like you've adapted it to a slightly warm brew to speed up the process.

It becomes much less bitter and then we dilute to whatever strength is desired. I am an iced coffee junkie, especially when it is warm.

I use an aeropress for coffee, both hot and iced, and it's amazing. I looked into a French press but the reviews on the aeropress were really high. Might try it if you have $20 to experiment with.

My wife makes it, and it's as basic as it gets.

1/2c grinds. Little hot water. Then cold. - Gallon jug. It's really good. We use simple Folders.

After reading this thread, I tried ice coffee for the first time today.
Well, its not exactly cold brewed like you described here, but I took my almost cold coffee from the machine and put it over ice with my usual half and half and sweetener.
    Not bad...
I could see me getting into it with a splash of vanilla creamer.

    And for the record.
I have never considered ice coffee before. :faint:
