My trailer door froze up again and doorknob wouldn't turn to let me out....anything I can use temporarily without going out in this storm? I thawed it out with blow dryer but if we loose power I will have to use matches or torch or something....Any ideas?
Must be frosting up from heat loss... If you can pull it apart quick, I would rub down what ever you can with a candle.. Just a very thin coat to keep the metal from from holding frost.. if you have a candle... Too heavy and it will probably be hard to turn...
Has moisture inside Take apart & dry it out, then some lubricant edit windshield w fluid might work, makes mess though
Ya house trailer....There is a covered porch over the door....It seems like it is inside the knob....I splashed some alchohol in it without taking it apart...worked for awhile...Haven't checked again in last hour or so...
Just checked again and still working....Going to install brand new one when it warms up, should I fill it with WD40 when I install new one?
They make some nice dry film lubes for guns...That would work great...I spray my 5 ft snow blower chain with gun lube, never rusts up sitting around for the next storm,,, great on auger mechanism... makes it easy to turn..
Look up Rust Veto. Canned protectant that is a dry film. Think the manufacturer is Cosmoline. http://www.schafco.com/cosmoline.asp This is a seller, but not sure if it the best price or place to buy. It is the product I have.
My back door did it on the weekend milleo and just poured a little gas line de-icer on it and been fine since?
Petroleum jelly (vasoline) as a temporary fix. I would coat the inside real good with something petroleum-based to displace the water. More importantly you need to seal the knob up on the inside to keep the warm moist air from getting in there. A bead of silicone might be your best bet.
What happens when you need to go out? Open door,put fuzzy sock on then boot, then go out. Im sorry I just couldnt resist. Hope you get your problem resolved.

First night I put fuzzy purple sock on....It didn't freeze up....It went down to 10 degrees....I have been fighting this for awhile this year....Not sure what changed over the years but my humidity has been running 30 to 35 percent....
My old 80's trailer was a ice box in the winter and a oven on cleaning cycle in the summer. I sure hope they make them better now. Dang water lines froze on Superbowl Sunday I think it was 2003 or 4.
Mine is a 1970 but over the years I have added insulation etc. so not to awful...I especially made sure the skirting was insulated real good....
