Love it, That is something to crow about! I've been right near that, but then something major comes up that is home related. The home loan is the cheapest interest out there.

Reminds me of the MASH episode when Colonel Potter's wife, Mildred saved up money to pay off the mortgage and sent the note over to him.

Thanks everyone for the nice replies! I'm a bit surprised how glad I am to be done with it; wife is happy too.

Took us 27 years to get here and likely would still have one if not for staying in the same place for all these years. When I went to the bank to close out the account, the person who helped me asked if I was moving. I laughed knowing I couldn't move for a long time with all the wood I have in my stacks. :)

Thanks. Yep, green enough and cool enough that the wife asked that I do the "bad thing" for her tonight. Oooooohh yeeaaahhhh..... nice fire in the BKK going right now.
Heck, had a dusting of snow above 12K when I cleared the tunnels tonight. Too soon, too soon.

I travel for work. A lot. Today may have been the worst travel day I've ever had. Pass the whiskey.

Caffeine going down. Back to work. Looks like a nice weather day today as well. It has been really nice out with cooler temps. Today's high to be 85.

    Congrats!

My mother was reading her father's ledger a couple of years ago and told me that he had written when they had a mortgage burning party back in sometime in the 1930's. I couldn't believe that was actually a thing - but I guess so.

We used to let our chickens free range, but we lost too many to hawks and on a couple occasions to either stray dogs or foxes. I would hate for those things to develop a taste for my chickens as we have quite a few of them around here. Our chickens are confined to a fenced area with netting over the top - we would prefer to let them roam, but it is hard seeing them picked off by the predators.

Good luck with your trapping efforts.

the thing is that you would want to keep some paperwork to show you have achieved the goal of paying off the mortgage and prove it if something came up so I would make a copy of the loan papers and the final closure papers, have a party and burn those with some ceremony. It is a great achievement.
