Nice work! I'd like my grinding station to be a little bit taller to get it to a more comfortable working height for me. Did you make the height adjustable? Hey Brad - have you seen this grinder? I think it's the same one that northern tool sells, just a different paint job. It's been working great for me - the only (minor) PITA for me is readjusting for different gauge/pitch combos. The chain needs to be centered in the vise or the left vs right grind will be different. The awesome part is that it's a fraction of the price of Oregon's offerings. Thats a great price. I may have to look at those a little harder.how hard is it to center the chain in the vise Shawn?
The pic is deceiving. Chain vise is 5' from the ground. I made it for my height, not your height. Lol
The northern grinder is similar but not the same as the tecomec/ Oregon. The faults Curry pointed out is not supposed to be a issue with tecomec.
There's a couple of set screws to adjust the (fixed) rear jaw; and the front jaw moves to do the clamping. So I have to clamp the chain in place a few times to get it right. It looks like that one also has set screws in the same locations, so I'd think it might be necessary with that one too, unless they adjust the positions of both jaws at the same time. I don't really adjust it all that often anymore. I've got it set up for my 404 milling chains, and I went back to sharpening my crosscutting chains with the FG2.
I dont need a grinder for the home , i need a fast and accuracy chain sharpening when i am in the forest i waiting to see when the stupid factories will think about this
Can i ask why the stihl usg is three times more expensive at least in my country i dont see any diference of this nice oregon grinder
These motors can be reversed with a functional capacitor . I rewired it using a switch changing motor directions. I still haven't used the grinder for finish work but it sure will get rid of trash in a hurry without burning.
