Morning everyone. Walked in the dark this morning, had breakfast, going for a shower and then BACK TO WORK. eeeek! The only thing wrong with six weeks off is that you can get too used to being not at work. Seeing as there was construction and carpet cleaning done over the summer, I will have to spend the morning putting my office back in order. Oh, well, the paychecks are nice.

Rain cleared out overnight and it's 73° at 1pm with 53% humidity. Ahhhh. Time to fire up the splitter.

Had a sunny day on the Oregon coast yesterday. We went from Florence to Yachats stopping a bunch of times. Big sandy beaches with very few people and rocky shores with the waves crashing over them. Definitely not the Jersey shore.

Now we are losing daylight, I find myself in the shop in the evenings picking up small projects that I somehow lost interest on. It bothers me to no end having maybe 10 unfinished pieces on the work bench.

Tonight's project was this carved stylized crouching rabbit with oversized ears from dense figured oak. Not much detail, but enough to know what it is. It was about 90% completed, but sanding the oak took so long that I moved onto other things.

Next up on the bench is a shorebird I started in 1996 and never completed. It needs a leg fabricated and some paint.

Yachats, if you saw an albino Sasquatch in the woods, or on the beach, then you saw my brother.:rofl:

It sure is beautiful out there. My wife and I need to get back out to the west coast.

I did see him but I think I mistook him for a beached whale, AKA Moby duck. :D

While driving up the Cascades foothills today my wife said to me, "We can buy a piece of property and retire out here and you can have a woodpile as big as you want". If I was driving we would have gone straight to the nearest realtor.

Last night we stayed at an Airbnb place up a long dirt road. Windows open we heard the stream running and the owls (spotted?) calling all night.

We had breakfast at a quirky cafe in an old lumber town that is barely hanging on. They had a scrapbook of the local history. It included towns just down the road that no longer exist. Newspaper clippings that a women kept over the past 80+ years. They said she passed away a few years ago but they are still maintaining her legacy. It was pretty cool to thumb through.

    Caffeine going down.

Busy day yesterday getting things prepared for today and buying all the fencing for the spoiled one's pasture. :picard:

The barn foundation digging time has arrived. I got a decent price from a contractor to dig it out I decided to pay them to do it. I will still be in my backhoe most of the day to move dirt away from foundation ditches so the concrete truck can get around at least three sides with the the concrete.

Here is their toy. It may be what I rent from them to pull the stumps on the trails. If it is powerful enough. I'm going to have him pull four or five stumps close by foundation and see how it performs. This contractor has 4 or 5 excavators. He has one that is bigger than this as well. But this would be a nice size for getting around the woods. (Roughly 30,000lb.)

First day back to work wasn't too bad. This week will gradually get me back in work mode. Our rain spate over Sunday seems to have ended and now we are back into sunny days again.

Hey Gasifier , how deep is the trench? We have to go at least 42" (our frostline).
    No criticism, just curious.
Can't wait to see more build :ithappened:.
