Thank you sir! We've been coming up for a long time, and decided to pull the trigger. Good thing with the tree services doing that. Work is much harder to come by around here. I've got a few trees to drop, right on the edge of a bank next to the house. It may be a tree service job, we'll see........
Yes..... I should have said his camp......20 minutes down the road. We probably crossed paths in whitefield on Saturday. Maple agrees and said she likes treats in return for face licks.
I have been to Whitefield on my bike and in July I wasn't to far from there...Absolutely awesome country up there...But colder than where I am in winter...Wintah...But Maple will love it...
We had a female Chihuahua, all 7 lbs of her. She lived to be 17. I took in in from a home where she was not wanted. Took two years to get her to trust us, then on, things were very good except that she was a runner and always had to be on a leach when we were away from home. Plus, around here there are a lot of predators who would have her for a meal so I need to keep her close by. So far, none of the predators have attempted to mess with the labs.
They are extremely loving, maybe the most affectionate dogs ever. We watch him very closely, since he enjoys wondering and predators. Maple is very watchful of him too. He's was faster than her. I'll need to get a video of him chasing her when she has the ball. He keeps up no problem, nipping at her hind quarters.
Sorry for the derail WeldrDave. I should know better You get that oak processed yet? Primo stuff there!
No worries friends!!! All good, thats what were all here for is camaraderie. Been to dam hot to process, it's in the yard just sitting.
Hey, milleo are calling me a flatlander? Those are fighting words, and you using four letter words at that, eg. " Mass. "
Where have you been looking? How are the real estate agents? Ditto, I've been trying to research town taxes as it seems thats the biggest issue to people there is property taxes(still significantly lower than here) and towns all have different tax rates and assessments. My biggest concerns are getting "out there" far enough to where tourism and development is years away while both of us can still drive to work.
From what we found, the overall tax burden in NH is much less. (State, sales, income, etc) The property taxes were lower than our area. Tourism is BIG in the White mountain and lakes region and is one of the main sources of income. Registering a vehicle is more, no question.... Subaru outback & Ford F250 Pennsylvania $244 In New Hampshire about $365 total The more North, the less people & the less areas are built up. But..... expect to drive 20 to 45+ minutes possibly for work.
Yeah that's what I've read(nh dmv), they take a percentage of vehicle MSRP and age for registration cost, Insurance is lower there too. I wouldn't have to insure every vehicle and register every trailer. I've used several cost of living calculators, just income and property taxes we can save a boat load. We could work part time and be about where we are here. Driving an hour ain't no biggie. We take day trips over, been exploring, possibly north west NH or just west of the white mountain national park. I would want to have acerage 100+ and not hear highways. Just deafening crickets.
It's certainly doable. We sold in Pa, and closed on a property here in the NE (whitefield/Carroll)white mountains. The decision was made 8 years ago, we saved, fixed up the house and put it on the market. It took 3 seasons to finally sell, we searched for a house since Dec of 2014 In my experience (this would vary greatly) the auto insurance is a little more. This is due to there is no law saying one needs it, so many don't. So when you do get it, getting non and under insured coverage brings things up a little. The overall tax burden is less. That's HUGE! How much does a person pay in state taxes and sales tax in any given year? Thousands right? We've seen savings big time already. The 2015 2016 profile guide, a complimentary magazine which breaks down each town by population, area, county, zip code, household median income, tax info, and town office info. For example Lincoln, as of 2012 had a tax rate of $12.73 (5.73 town 1.68 county 2.82 school, and 2.50 state education)
I'll look for that magazine, I always used Wikipedia for incomes and demographics. Lol, it'd be nice to have it condensed with more info like county and town. I've looked at libson and Lancaster as they are " redneck" areas. Nh seems more friendly with business all over the state, there was an engineering firm the Mrs was looking at based IN the white mountains. Which we both thought was cool as heck. Opportunities like that is what made us take moving as a very serious option.
