New to the forum and this is my first post. I am planning to pick up a new saw by the end if the week. I want the capability of running a 24" bar and I keep coming back to the Echo CS-590. I was wondering if anyone on here has any firsthand experience with this saw? It has the same size engine as a Husqvarna 460 Rancher, capable of running the same size bar/chain but the Echo cost less money and has a 5yr warranty. It also cost less than the Stihl (don't remember the particular model) with the same specifications. Years ago I worked in a small engine repair shop and we sold Husqvarna saws and I have always liked them but the Echo has really caught my attention. I have Echo, Stihl, and Husqvarna dealers in town so I can look at and compare them all with ease. Main use for the saw will be cutting up stuff on the farm and my various hunting properties, and cutting a little firewood here and there. It wont need it every day but on days I do need it I need a saw that can really perform Thanks for any input!

Welcome to the forum. I don't have an Echo saw but do have a pole pruner they make. It has a nice running little engine on it. The Echo saws get a lot of respect which is why I was willing to try their pole saw.
Welcome to the club CurDog . Echo makes a solid saw and has for years. I nearly bought a 590 myself. It's gotta be one of the best buys in the pro style 60cc saw class for the money. I do have a cs490 and love it. Lightest pro 50cc saw out there. Having said that I opted for the lighter weight, extra power, and better anti vibe of the Dolmar 6100. Oops I did it again! | Firewood Hoarders Club A great saw in its own right. Echos aren't necessarily know as high performance chainsaws. Think Honda Civic of chainsaws. If your looking for reliability and torque versus speed, it can't be beat. If you are looking for a high performance fast saw, you might want to check out a different saw. If you do end up with the Echo 590, muffler mod is a must! If you are looking for a saw to pull a 24 B&C with authority the Makita 6421 HDRock mentioned is a steal used from the home depot rental department @ around 300 bucks. Your in the right place, lots of knowledge around here as far as saws go.
Welcome to the club CurDog! But, you stole my nickname! Except the correct spelling is with 2 r's and 2 g's: "C - U - double - R - D - O - double - G" I never had a 590, but I had a 400 and I cut a lot of firewood with it. I've heard them referred to as the "Toyota" of saws, and that was about my experience too. You know you want it... Buy it already!

thanks for all the responses! seems like a nice group of guys around here. It seems like most people think pretty highly of the 590. For the past few year I have just been using an old Poulan ( not my saw of choice but I got a deal on it that I couldn't pass up. I'm a pretty fair mechanic so I knew I could keep it up and running) , so the Echo will really be a step up. I will probably have a 20" bar and a 24" bar and use the bigger one only as needed. It just always seems like a couple of times a year I need a bigger saw than what I have and I think the 590 is going to fit my needs perfectly.
Yea it's a great saw. Probably one of the top saws for the money. When you need that bigger saw a few times a year just call me. I'll bring out the ms650 and The 25 and 32" bars and we can cut everything you have around up to just over 5 foot in diameter! Not that I want to try and move 5ft oak rounds!! if you really want to see me do it I have a few you tube videos I can link here!!
I have got to play with a 590 briefly but my first thought was "man what a great firewood saw" for a new saw choice the 590 makes a lot of sense and really makes a guy wonder how much some of the features on other 60cc saws are worth. Honestly very few people compair the 590 to a husky 460 or stihl 390. Even though that is the intended market. It is often compared to more professional saws like the Echo 620, dolmar 6100, husqvarna 555 and so on. All of those saws start out much more
