Too much free maple, what? I don't know how much of this I'm going to be able to get, I have been staying off my feet cuz few days ago, I hurt my foot, thought it was doing pretty good but not today:hair: I think I broke something there.
Working in the direct sun with the heat was kicking my butt too.
I barely made a dent in this pile from the tree. There is still about 40 inch trunk of the tree standing 20 feet tall
This is just a drop in the bucket, tree guys have four other locations with wood to be picked up.

I loaded a couple big uns in the front, then I started picking the easier stuff, but I always take the hand truck with me

I burned some silver maple for the first time last winter and I like it quite a bit. Got a double load from a tree service last April and plan on burning mostly silver maple this winter except at night where white oak will be the choice. Nice score; hopefully you can get all you want before someone else hauls it away.

I thought I was going to overheat out there, now I see why Heat index is 101 °F
I was drinking a lot of water but I got sick to my stomach and a little dizzy by the time I got in the truck to leave:eek:

Went out early this morning and unloaded a trailer full into the shed.
Went back out later when it was nice and hot, and just about keeled over by the time I was done, and it was less full than the first load.
Just sitting here, I'm sweating. Really shoulda' put in the window shaker.

I'm going to guess window shaker is window air conditioner?
I never regret what I paid for central air, I don't run it that much but fired it up today after I got back, drop the humidity 10% temp 9 degrees, but I still have a small fan blowing on Me on the couch right here
I have had window air conditioners in the past used fans to distribute the air in it was great, as long as you don't have a big house.
I don't know how in the heck I could handle the heat in the factory when I was younger sure the heck could not do it now

Those big fans in the factory move a lot of nice hot air, don't they.
Yeah, window air. It's a little 5000btu that keeps the house pretty cool unless it's super hot/humid. Still trying to figure out where to put a HE furnace/air in here.....small house. My brother keeps telling me we can put it in the attic, but I don't like that idea.
Thinkin' about putting on a small 3 season room and putting it in there.
Did you ever go have the toe checked?

It's great that you scored on the Silver Maple, I've burned quite a bit over the years and was happy to get it. I've turned down wood already this summer due to heat/humidity. Something I never would have done in years past. But now at 57 I am not the young buck I was. Plus, since joining the club I am three years ahead (or more), and have a clearing job lined up in the cool weather. Stay hydrated out there ya'll. Go slow and work safe.

When I was 18 I could spend 14 hours in the hot sun, in the 80s in the bottom of a swimming pool carrying mud for the trowler guys.
    Boy I wish I was 40 years younger:BrianK:

Summer is the time that people want fellers to come fell their trees, so that's the time you get to scrounge free wood

I know, you get it when it's there. It has been so hot here in NH. Our avg. is 11 days in the summer that hit 90 deg. We have already had 19 days. I don't take the heat well, I'm a cold weather guy, so I try to plan my cutting then. And as you pointed out out, grab it when it's there.

I hate the heat. Always have, and enjoyed the cooler weather and winter. Now, I can't take the cold either! I'm so screwed.

Yeah, I got that at least. I can take the cold up until December and the heat until July, so I'm not totally screwed.
