Building another little sleeping cabin for our camp. The camp is on the property but it's 12 min ride from the house in the truck. Having no power there and not wanting to listen to a generator, I built it up at the shop (with screws) and then took the walls off the deck and trailer'ed it down to the camp in 4 trips. It even got painted first. The first one is only 8'x10' and that got built in one but the roof was seperate. I didn't want to trim the trail, we like the way it's just big enough to fit the truck through as it sneaks through the woods. The new cabin is only 12'x10', just a little bigger and easier to sneak around the bed, it's a little tight in the smaller one. This is the first cabin, those are just shutters that cover a screen, no glass. This is the "deck" of the new cabin Unloading in place with the back wall on it. That one window will be the only one, that is an Andersen off a replacement job and too good for the dumpster. These are the 2 gable ends, same process. set in place This is what the camp looks at.
I think I've shown this before, but we call it our "kitchen" Just a good place for all the cooking stuff and some covered counter space. This was last summers addition.
Nice camp buildings. I like the "kitchen". Your view from the cabins is great too. Thanks for posting and no, it isn't too long. We live vicariously through each other's threads and pics. Seeing places that otherwise we would never get to see.
Nope, just like Woodwidow said, we get to see places we might never be able to, and I'm grateful for all the pic shares!
I'm a little strange, if it doesn't eat grass & have a tail, I'm not interested. I think my Mom ruined me for fish as a child, fishsticks was I think the cheapest thing going, and we had plenty of them, add in a little un-diagnosed attention deficit disorder and that pretty much cuts out fishing for me. My business partner was a big Bass fisherman and would try to get me to go along, one time when he asked I replied, "how long does it take?" after we finished laughing at me , I came to the conclusion that no matter how nice the idea of fishing is, I'm just not wired that way. There are some pickerel in the the river though.
Awesome work fuelrod! You know, my girlfriend has been asking me to build a little cabin in my woods. I kinda thought it was a silly idea until seeing yours just now! If I had a view like that I think I would for sure. But the only "water feature" I have is a couple of drainage ditches, and the occasional mosquito pond in the spring. Lots of deer and other wildlife back there though... You really got my wheels turning here! Just Awesome!!!
there is something to be said about going to a place with no wifi, cell service, telephone or TV to just sit and relax around a fire, watch the scenery and visit with each other.
Girlfriend, cabin, woods, campfire………. that sounds like as good of a reason as ever to go & get some nails
In case anyone is wondering about that goofy design, I'm planning on hingeing a lightly framed metal roof that swings up to provide a small, like 14'x 12' (or to be determined) roof area in the front, thus the tall wall. It might end up in 3 sections to keep the weight down on each section. I'm still thinking on this.
