We had friends over last evening and planned for eight pizzas. I got the oven rolling on white cedar splits and added sugar maple. For starters we had local steamers cooked in a cast iron pan with garlic, butter and a little white wine. They were sweet and very good. Next was a pan of fire roasted corn that had butter and salt on it. A little water in the bottom and a top cover of foil to steam them, and then uncovered for the finish. First up was a plain cheese to see how hot the oven was. Next were two of the ham and pineapple. Two portabello mushroom and ground sausage. The last two were barbecue chicken.
The smorgasbord of WFO deliciousness looks awesomely good. I'm sure many within a 20 mile radius could smell it, drooling just as much as DaveGunter's pups are......
I wondered if we would get some tantalizing pictures of the WFO in operation this summer. The corn had me drooling and the cheese pizza and the BBQ chicken and the..... Whoops, the keyboard is wet.
I'm lookin at the pics, and like Woodwidow, I'm ovah here, and like DaveGunter's pups I'm ovah here, but not half as patient as them cute canines.... Great eats fishingpol
It has been so dry around here, I haven't used it all summer. We are down almost 8 inches of rain. Once the fall rolls around, it will get heavy use again.
We're getting all our rain this end of summer. Tomorrow through next Tuesday we expect thunderstorms. Can't complain though.
I'll be looking forward to see what you have going on there. Post some pictures when you can. A friend of mine is supposed to start an outdoor oven once the heat breaks. I'm looking forward to giving him a hand with it. Fall is not too far away. I'll be making meat pies and stews when there is a nip in the air. I'll get to use some cast iron pans too.
