Yeah, one got me. I don't remember the circumstances, but the photos sure look like I ran the light. Anyone know how to beat the ticket?
I didn't want to like that you got a ticket from big brother. I liked the post because I feel bad for you. Here's what I found, and if i were in your position, I'd follow this link to a T. How to Effectively Beat A Red-Light Camera Ticket The logic is sound to beat a camera ticket with this verbiage. Good luck, and stick it to the man!
I got one a few years ago, in Washington they do not have to prove it was you driving, you are responsible because it was you vehicle. But on the same note because they do not have to prove it was you driving, the ticket does not go against your driving record or insurance, go to court and they well lower the fine, usually by half
The story goes that another guy got a ticket mailed to him. The photo shows him running a red light and the letter stated the amount of the fine would be $150. The guy thought about it for a while then wrote out a check in the amount of $150, took a picture of it and mailed it back to them! A couple days later, he receives another letter, this one showing a picture of a pair of handcuffs! He sends the check.
Yes, I've heard that story. I think the reply of a bird picture, or a "you're number 1" back to the police is the best one though.
Well I decided to just ask for mitigation. It can be done by mail, and apparntly in most cases they do lower the ticket. Contesting is all or nothing. I am against the cams, but I am not gong to win this one.
Today I got the final judgement, and I have to pay (I refuse to us the word "owe") $100. It was $136, so it went down a little. Oh well, the world won't end. But I coulda bought 1/2 cord of firewood for that price ...
Yep, 3 months from infraction (July 8) to final judgement. I have until the end of November to pay. So I'll wait another month and a half to pay. Once upon a time, in another country far away, I delayed paying an injust "fine" or "tax" long enough to where the extortioner died before it was paid. I never did pay that one. (True story.) I don't think that will happen this time, but who knows?
