Any of you folks ice fish lake Gogebic for perch? I am planning on trying it in Feb 2017 and was wondering if any of you folks have any tips or suggestions. I am looking at Guy Sibley as a guide since I will have to drive 8 plus hours to get there from Indiana.

Is there a reason you want to go that far west?

I'm not a fisherman myself so can't help much on that but will say there can be some good fishing in most of the UP.

The lake is known for massive perch. 16" up to 2#s. We don't get that here in Northern Indiana. I enjoy fishing different areas. id the Devils lake trip in North Dakota years ago. Gogebic looked pretty cool.

At that time of year, just about anywhere on the north end would be productive for you.
As you are at the north end of the lake, if you head east into the bay, you will find many ice shacks and also the depth gets consistently shallower.
I do not ice fish my self and am not familiar with the guide you have mentioned
I do know that a couple 2-3 years back (or longer) there was an outdoors program warning of the danger of the jumbos being overfished. I don't know if the DNR has since changed the possession regulations.
I found this about the guy you mentioned.

Yep, that's him. I love to ice fish, so the thought of heading up there thrills me. Its not about the catch, its about the experience. I want to catch fish, don't get me wrong, but enough for a meal or two is plenty. I don't freeze fish, so I am in no fear of hurting a population, LOL. I fish for Bluegill mainly, never caught a walleye, so that would be cool, and a few perch. Lots of pictures' and time spent in the outdoors when most are holed up in the house is what I enjoy.

I go ice fishing every year the second weekend in February. I always have good luck. We fish Lake Winnibigoshshi near Grand Rapids, Mn. It is my understanding that a good walleye lake is a good perch lake too. My friend that I go with does fish the UP too and he says its good that time of the year.

Lake st Clair is an excellent yellow perch destination. Might be closer too, good one to put on your list.
