White Mountain National Forest firewood scavenging permits

    Anyone in New Hampshire scrounge firewood from the White Mountain forest? I recently discovered they have a permit that allows taking up to 2 cords of downed wood for $20, then $10 per cord up to a total of 5 cords.

    I have a permit like this in Virginia, mine is for 18 pickup loads in a year for $20. If it's close it's a great deal. It gives me an excuse to drive some of the roads in the National Forest and just enjoy it, and if I'm lucky I'll find a tree really close the road that the wind blew over, or part of a tree that someone cut and didn't take for some reason.
