Got mah Crocs on as we type. So, started a little earlier today and got the 1st Maple stack empty. Gotta' empty the trailer into the shed, then start on the next stack of Maple. That might wait for tomorrow. Gettin' warm-ish out.
Wow, nice stacks! I stack on plastic pallets, but mine are no where near as neat! Then again with Jack Russell's, they think my stacks are jungle jims and climb all over them throughout the year. You wouldn't think 2 little dogs could disrupt stacks of wood like these 2 do!
Thanks Iceman. We have 2 labs, but they aren't all that nimble. I think the stacks are safe from them. I'm a little OCD, but a big part of why the stacks are like that is that I don't want 'em falling over. If they fall over, then I gotta' restack. I'm too lazy for that, so I make 'em neat.
Spent the weekend moving some more Maple into the shed, and got all the split Ash stacked. I tired. Back at it again today though. Only just about 2 months before burn season starts. About 4 more cord to move, and about another 2/3 cord of Beech to finish splitting and stacking. If I can get all this done, I'll order up some more wood before snow.
I'm thinking the same way as you, I'd like to get another grapple load delivery in late Oct, early Nov. If things go well with this saw I'm looking at, I'll give it a go on this delivery.
Finished the 2nd Maple stack today. Almost 2 cords since Friday, plus getting the Ash stacked. Gettin' there.
Iceman7668 I have seen some plastic pallets and they look like they would hold water in them. How do you like the plastic pallets?
I love mine. This is similar to mine. I will post actual pictures in the morning. No place for water to collect.
It will be about another month before you will see pickup trucks/trailers running around here in every direction; passing each other on the roads and heading in different directions with their winter's heat. Amazing that there really aren't more chimney fires.
And if they must do it that way they should find stuff like this. The right half, rotten dead piece of wood, right? On the left, split open, a beautiful piece of dry walnut. 18 % on the meter. Straight out of the woods. Mother Nature has fascinated me all my life.
Here are my plastic pallets. There is no place on mine for water to pool up on. And if you put enough White oak on them, they conform to uneven ground, LOL!
Got back at it this morning. I'll be loading some shorter splits I got from a guy last year. I hope they're dry enough. Then, I'll get into the Oak and Ash.
