I've always stacked on skids and rarely even top covered. We moved this past winter and I really want to be setup at the new place better than we were. I've decided to build a shed. Stage one is completed as of today. I am using 5"-6", treated, round, fence posts for the uprights. I decided not to bury the post at all to alleviate rotting issues and to gain some height. Yesterday I hooked the auger to the bobcat and bored 6 holes to pour the footers. I bought 6 sonotubes, cardboard footer tubes, whatever you want to call them. They're 48" long and on the "high" side of the grade the tubes ended up about 4" above grade. On the "low" side the tubes are above grade about 12". Our frost line is 32" so I'm good with that. I'll be doing a little grading and also plan to add about 3-4" of crushed stone for the floor so the skids aren't on dirt and to bring the low grade side up. I bought some strapping, bent the ends in a zig zag and pushed them into the concrete halfway when I was pouring. I think the straps will be sufficient to hold the posts to the footers. The width of the shed will be 24' and the depth between posts is 80". The roof will be 2x6" joists, 2x4" cross ties and steel roofing. The roof will be 8' so I should have a small overhang even when pitched. So far it's been pretty cheap. All the lumber is treated and I'm hoping to get it done in the next week or two. More to come as it progresses. Quick picture of the footers. Not much to see yet.

As most have said, eagerly awaiting some progress pics.

I also have a woodshed waiting on the wings...not sure what to put up just yet.

Poured rain last night. Got home from work today and thought I'd have a couple hours to start framing. It rained, stopped, rained, stopped...! We need the rain, so no complaints. Hoping I can get some time this weekend to get the posts and main roof framing up.

Beautiful fence you have there! Looking forward to see the woodshed. Just built one myself last year, but not that big.

Thanks. About finished with the fence. Put up 560' of it. Went pretty quickly and surprisingly affordable. We used the 5 boards for the dogs. We don't need them going under or over it. McArthur Posts and treated polar boards. Posts have a 30 year warranty and were only $7 each for 5"-6" round 7' long.

Nice start to what should be an outstanding woodshed. I'm just down the road a little bit from MacArthur Lumber. They have great pressure treated stuff. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
