Quantum storage bins would be a huge asset as well. I had a small hardware store that sold Stihl, starting off I used Quickbooks and you could assign locations within. That was the cheapest way I found to go. Good luck, it was a ton of fun but a ton of work. Bins similar to this, holds a ton of parts Quantum Storage 96 Bin Shelf Unit 12in. x 36in. x 75in. Well 2 weeks in and starting to see some improvements.pretty exciting and challenging job. However it is exhausting. Been putting about 65 hours in there and still moving quite a bit of coffee. Which I enjoy a lot more. Lol
Awesome to hear! Hopefully things continue to progress and get smoother for you. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
Hey. Congrats on the new job Corey. And hopefully they will see your hard work and determination and give the department more time to see the results. It may take more time to get established as an improved and more desirable place to go. Good luck to you man!
Corey, how are you handling the inventory cataloging? Yeah, you could go and buy a business system that is all pre set up ($), but even Microsoft excel can be used to catalog the inventory of what you have. Are there any unknown parts? Those you could list on CL or eBay and get rid of those in lots. Good luck, and keep us posted.
I am still trying to get a hold on everything. Every thing is some what by part number. But from various suppliers so not an easy way to find out what is what. I have thought about excel but want to only enter stuff once if I can so what ever management program we go with it would want to be able to import it easy. I have been looking at commander does any one have experience with it?
The question is if they are willing to pay for an inventory control management programme. I did a quick search and there does seem to be some open source ones. Do they use any price scanners or is everything done manually? Is the goal for parts inventory control for a repair shop or is there counter sales etc that takes parts out of inventory. My sister took on a job years ago as parts inventory for a textile plant; plant now shut like so many. Before she came in, the techs just helped themselves to parts and if they didn't use them, often tossed. My sister worked up what parts were needed for each task and that is what the techs got. They balked but she got waste under control.
