Well I moved into my house about three years ago and finally met my neighbor two doors down. ( Bout 300 yards away). He's a nice older guy(70s I'd guess). I work thirds so I hardly get out if I do I'm working on farwood or mowing. He commented that he sees me splitting all the time and asks if I burn pine. I told him I do and we continue to talk for awhile and part ways. Fast forward two days later my wife wakes me up and says some guy is driving a tractor on our land and she thinks he's taking my farwood. :hair: so I jump up and run outside and its the neighbor and his friend on his John Deere dropping off loads of ponderosa pine on my indomitable never ending unsplit pile!!!. He dropped about three cords off I'd guess.

It was still in the round some were over 32" diameter. I had to cut some to length but the splits were MM 25% or so. I'm super jacked I have about 12 cord of ash on hand and 2 honey locust 2 black locust and 3 maple. I'm so jacked that don't have to use the gooder BTU wood in SS. This really put me close to the 3 year plan.

As some of you may remember I didn't know what I was going to do when my grandpa sold his land( detailed in a thread a few months ago) but the good Lord provides. I've lined up two woods 2 miles from my house that I'm the only guy with access too. It's full of big cherry, hickory, ash, oak, and elm. I can take what I want as as I leave 40% of what cut in rounds for the farmer. I get to use all of his heavy equipment too! I'll start another thread once I get in and get cutting!

The neighbor, the neighbors friend, and the farmer all call me "Woodman". I don't think they remember my name but I'm okay with it if it gets me FREE BTUs! The pics don't have all the pine in it. My f250 had all the stuff that was hand loadable in it. I of course helped move it when I learned what he was doing

Nothing yet. My wife is preggers with our third and its been hot, so she hasn't baked. I've asked her to make her homemade brownies for them. I've never met a soul who didn't like em and say they are the best. I hate chocolate and I like em.

I've forgot to add that the neighbor also asked if I was a good faller. I told him I was a part time amateur. ( I showed him pics of my work also detailed in another thread at the beginning of June from a bucket) and he showed be a 30"dbh ponderosa pine and about 15 12"dbh ashes, all standing dead, he'd like taken down and I could have the wood. He even said he'd take care of the brush!!!
The only thing more fun than falling trees is my job. I'm an adrenaline junky at heart. None of the trees are in danger of hitting anything so that's a big bonus.

So, so jealous. Sometimes a generous old man or lady next door can be a true blessing.

This is great! Not only have you met a neighbor but gained a new friend too and a generous one at that. Congratulations and if you have to wait on the brownies, I'd get something in appreciation to that man fast and more brownies later.

And should you decide to attend a GTG either at our place or somewhere else, brownies usually go over very good!
