Yup I would the most I pulled was a double in Michigan. Let me tell ya that's an experience.. Number 1 on my bucket list is to run Ice Roads and I will.... 2 is to run a road train but in the USA we don't do a real road train nothing beyond a triple and that's not even allowed in most states.
I really like ice road truckers too. I have the endorsement but have never pulled doubles. Looking forward to your posts on pulling a tanker. I have never done that either. Only covered wagons, flatbed's, but mostly Dumpers.
How long have you been driving? I actually stopped and left the road for 11 years but never let the license lapse. OTR is rewarding but a hard life for people at home. It takes a special breed to do it and frankly I was once able too and liked it but I'm older and like being home these days.. I've done refer, dryvan, flatbed, gravel, doubles and only ever pulled one curtain side. Tankers are a new one for me at least smooth bore is. I have also pulled van tanks which is huge bulkhead tanks in a dry van. Those are frankly a nightmare to pull..... Milk tanker is really what I've wanted to do for years due to where I live. I'm right next to a massive dairy plant and can be home nightly. Problem has always been you have to know someone to get in... I am blessed to finally get my foot in the door!
Ready for a good laugh I have only watched one episode! I got the idea from pics a buddy of mine had from up in Alaska somewhere. He was a snow driver for supplies on a big snake looking truck that has huge inflatable wheels. I don't know the name of that vehicle. He took the pics of tractors going over the ice and it has memorized me since.
I started driving in '96. Earlier this year I made a change. I now am a shipping and receiving manager. Hours are great, but took a big pay cut.
