My motorsickle had 95 the hole way home from work @ 1pm. The grass around here is pretty much brown and the corn is starting to get very thirsty. Local weather reports 42% humidity. EDIT: my weather app says 52%
Real feel of 105 here. Split a little this morning before it got beastly. Just got back from Vegas a couple of days ago and this heat is waaaaay worse I swear.
Did make it out this morning about 6:30, wasn't bad at all. Cut and split a half cord of pine for the firepit selling pile till about 9:30. Loaded the truck up with older dry stuff and made a delivery at 10:30. Then made a second trip as the guy liked the amount for the $! Quick $200!! Was raining when I got finished around 12:30. Ate some lunch and the rain quit so went and split a little over a half cord of silver maple and ash mix before the second batch of rain came. Just chillin sippin a bloody mary watching the rain now.
We are under a weather warning for the heat until 7 PM tomorrow. Highs today and tomorrow are expected to be mid-90s and the heat index has it as 105 to 110. I'll be spending my time in the AC.
I know this thread is about people dealing with the oppressive, horrible, debilitating summer heat but thought I would post anyways. Weve had a cool summer more or less but its been quite bi polar. One day the furnaces are coming on because it wont get above 13c/55f and the next its a few days of 28c/82f. It struggled up to 23c/73f today but I was bent on getting out today despite being up late last night around the fire pit burning some of my 10% mc pine. Its all good... solving the worlds problems with a good friend until the wee hours is worth it once in awhile. I dropped two smallish larch trees (19.5 mbtus) As it was I had sweat stinging my eyes but the bugs weren't to bad. I was just happy to be running the saw and watching a few trees hit the deck! Not a big haul (two rows of 18 inchers) but there is always more where this came from. This stuff is nice and dry.....
Wow, where was that at? It is running $2.05 ish over here in Wayne Co...at least what I have seen Been too hot to fool with wood here, was 98* for a high yesterday...I thought it was supposed to be the same today, but it's been a lil overcast which is keeping temps in the 80s, and actually had a nice shower here earlier
2 soft maples down and blocked.. 6 semi dead ash that grew in a clump.. down 6 foot lengths and piled brush dealt with its cooler now at 8 sun going down... at least 5 more cord ready for :stacke:... no pics yet needed Eric VW up to run camera.. take pics of stumps and piles. tomorrow now time for and and then yup it was too hot but I am getting to my 2018 wood
I scored 3 S10 pickup loads of pecan about one week ago and have it stacked ready to split. The heat with the humidity has been really oppressive. Even working in the shade in one half hour I am soaked. I do what I can do but at 64 it is hard to take. It's the humidity, I can take the heat. There will be other days, patience is the word.
Busted out another half cord of pine and half cord of maple, ash, elm mix. Working my way through my scrounged piles. A lot of work cutting cookies off and poorly limbed stubs. But the price was right!! Much more pleasant today. Humidity dropped through the morning, high of 84, and a 15 mph west wind made for a great day of splitting in the shade!! Still have another half cord plus of good wood and 1/4ish cord of pine to get through.
If I could, I wood...see what I did there.... Good work, Canadian border VT.....would be nice to at least see grainy/fuzzy Shawn Curry pics
Well I got stood up on the monster maple. I ended up working on a wedding gift for some friends and I got to do some camping at the lake instead.
Will we be hearing more about this gift you are making? Glad you got to do some camping. Don't forget, we have a nice place to camp here. Beach sand even if no lake...
