I was talked into getting a 3/8lp .050 over the .043 picco because I would get more chain life.
I know out of the box the .050 did not impress me. Hopefully a sharpening will smooth this out. I fear my 192 just doesn't have the power to pull it we will see. What do you think?

I've never tried 91VXL, but I have been using its predecessor, 91VX regularly for a couple of years, because I got a deal on a roll of it. I really like the stuff, and VXL is supposed to be basically the same except with longer teeth. That said, it does look like it's taking too deep a bite for your 192. I use VX on an MS200 and an 026. I briefly had a rear-handle 192 with an 0.050 bar awhile back, but only used it with the stock 63RM chain, not the Oregon.

I also have loops of 63PS for both the 200 and 026. It's definitely faster, but as you'd expect it does dull more easily than the 91VX.

Well, the wood seems like hickory, which doesn't make things easy. Seems like the saw is a bit short of steam for the 3/8" LP.

WTH is "picco"? Stihl-speak for what? What the rest of the world calls "narrow-kerf"?

For 33-40 cc saws with 3/8" LP bars, chain of choice for me is Oregon 91VXL. Cuts fine, lots of depth to cutters. Great price, by the reel.

I had my lil echo with the stock 3/8 LP chain doin some jumping around, I just let up on the pressure, let the saw do the cutting, cut just as fast too with no chatter

I'd go along with the lack of power on the 192 as the issue too. I've run it on a 191T (different beast than the 192), 024, 026, and 241. All used 18" bars (GB bar on the 191T). I thought it cut great although I have never done any actual quantitative comparisons.

Ya hickory does test a saw but I cut a ton of it.
I think I need a bigger saw something like a 421 lol. I do have the 6100 for stuff that size and it makes really short work of it.

The issue doesn't look like power to my eye. Something is very wrong with the VXL for it to be that rough of a ride. And the cuts with PMM3 chain seem to not be loading the saw all that much either. The 192 should pull 63PM or 63PS fairly well although in wood that size, it's not gonna be a speed demon for sure.

Ya the VXL was all out of whack. On side cutters where longer by a fair amount and the depth gauges looked like they where only set by the short side. I took the long side back to even it up. That helped but it still needs some more attention and I think it will smooth all out.
