I went to my buddies after work and picked up a 3/4 load of spruce. He said no one else wanted it because it was softwood and had ants. Doesn't bother me, I'll help him out and get it out of his backyard. It will dry, it will burn, inside or out. Took it home and my ginger helped me unload.:D image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Yep out here we are not so picky and burn things like pine and spruce all the time. Good for you for scoring some free BTU's. My propane bill last year was 30 dollars a month even in the dead of winter.
Burning stuff like pine, cottonwood, spruce, Russian olive. You get the picture.

Nice haul, and good for you helping out a friend. What a cute girl, I 've got 3 boys and no girls. Hopefully I'll get a granddaughter!

I burn mostly spruce for the same reason. Free wood is pretty rare around here, and it is always soft wood. The ants will go away once it's split and stacked.

Ants will go away and the BTUs will still be there. I have come to like having soft wood on hand for starting fires and shoulder seasons if nothing else.

Ginger is a winner! Great pictures.

That spruce will burn. Not a worry.

Haha, it was a Spruce day for me too! I have the pitch all over me. I was hauling brush to the chipper and just got painted with sap. Can't wait for the logs to be dropped off tomorrow. Excellent kindling!
