Good looking pup. Smart too. Dig a hole and stay cooler. But the pup doesn't realize you have to fill it back in so not to hurt an ankle.
Yep, told him I'd bury him in that hole someday! I'll let him have his hole for a few years, that's the 18/19 wood right behind him. Gotta watch for the squirrels!

Dogs and dirt holes in the heat of summer. Billy Bob has a hole 7-8ft long and ~2ft deep under the deck that is his spot, he freshens it up once a morning and disappears for most of the day
Love the pics. Dogs digging holes, they all do it if you let them. I have one place they dig out every year regardless of what I try to do to stop it. Looks like she now has anther spot next to the house foundation on the back side of the house. That way she is where the kids are playing. When the grandkids go outside, the dogs follow along right with them.
He's my Cur dog - mostly lab but instinctive squirrel/tree dog. We found him running wild in the national forest 10yrs ago, he has a bobbed tail (common in Curs) I was going to name him Bob, but GF said Billy Bob was better being we had relocated and what better name for a southern dog?
