Between the hot humid weather and being gone every weekend for daughters softball tournaments I figured I'd try a new approach at things. I work in a small industrial park and our company owns 2/3 of one of the roads on both sides. Had to drive a truck about a half mile from bldg to bldg and it decided to shut down right at the dead end of the road at about 35. Did not steer too good with the load and my right foot was clear to the radiator trying to stop it. Needless to say I tried to make it a soft landing but 1 stump snubbed her up. Dislocated right hip. That was Wednesday afternoon. Ambulance ride to er and got it back in that night but broke a small chunk of the socket. 4 hours in surgery to repair it yesterday but I feel 100% compared to Wednesday night. Doctor said 12 weeks no load bearing and no driving. It's unfortunate I'll be in the hospital until Tuesday at the earliest and have to go get radiation treatment for bone fragment calcification issue. Daughter left Friday with teammates for the weekend and the wife left this morning so I had to miss this one. Next weekend is off then 4 more in a row. It's going to be a challenge but I don't have to worry about being too hot to work. Can go back to work in a few weeks but can't bend past 90 degrees can't lift can't walk should be boring. Don't ever mess up a hip. It really sucks.
X3 I don't want to get hurt, but wouldn't mind missing next week at work. The heat they say gonna be mid 90's in the end of the week. Looks like everywhere will be hot'n nasty.
Had drain removed today and started pt. Have 2 weeks with staples in and not allowed to do anything. Have appt with surgeon when removed and X-ray to see how it's healing. After that I should be able to start slowly doing a little but still tons of restrictions including no driving, walking, bending past 90 degrees, twisting. Have initial time frame of 12 weeks before I'll be able to bear any kind of weight on it. Tomorrow I have to get a radiation treatment to prevent bone calcification and hopefully be released after that. Getting good care here but it ain't home.
That was a hard one to "like." Sounds terrible and we wish you luck and hope you heal quickly. btw, we're no amateurs at this; my wife has had both hips replaces and I have too. In addition, one of those hips went bad so they had to remove it (nasty) and it took a year to heal. No. It is not fun. btw, don't worry about not bending past 90 degrees. You won't want to...
My wife is in pt and knows all the doctors here. She questioned getting a replacement vs fixing. He advised the repair was the better option. May have to be done eventually but he saying for my age and activities the replacement might last 10 years. There is still a chance of needing another surgery this fall but hoping not. Supposedly my hip joint is fine it just broke a small piece off the socket that they repaired and plated. Already don't want to bend over. Sleeping last night I guess I tried rolling over and that was plenty painful.
If you behave, you should recover. Arthritis may haunt you. But it could be worse. I hope you have a speedy recovery.
