so she finally fell over (a giant maple which had last year shed its twin trunk) and missed the apartments by about 4'--this is down the street from me and I called the landlord who hesitated when he heard a female voice on the other end--he's going to make an attempt to save the wood for me--wanted me to sign a waiver for safety sake--that's one way to meet a guy--my bike is parked to the brush end of the dead soldier so you can see how big it is--cheers!
Lots of limb wood in those Maples! Git-er-dun! (misleading title...I thought this was gonna be a favorite tabaccy while your cuttin discussion!)
.... Nice! The is a general waiver here on the site. I'll see if I can find it... I just left my number at a oak that a neighbor finally cut down this last week. But he has called back.. I got his two other oak trees about three years ago. So we will see. Get it while the gettin's good. Here's it: Liability Wavier | Firewood Hoarders Club
ok--laugh along with me--just talked to the landlord and he's asked me to make a few phone calls for him to pursue the lowest bid for removal--then suggested I throw some money in for the service to remove the tree--assuring me all the while one way or another I'd be getting some wood--he's nuts--I don't pay for it--why do I use the name: scavenger? ps thanks for the liability paperwork--i'll have that red tape at the ready...
I don't get involved with those kind of deals anymore. Yeah, it's nice to get the wood but I hate all the clean up and hauling all the small limbs and leaves away.
Clean up can be a lot more tedious then expected. The electric company topped a tree in our yard and getting the yard back to a mow able state took a lot more effort then I thought. I also realize I need a leaf blower. A BIG LEAF BLOWER! Good luck with the landlord
so I made the phone call for the landlord to my friend with the tree service--and I've put the two of them together and both assure me I will be getting some of the wood--the landlord has better things to do I can tell but not to the point of making sure all the legalities are covered and with a female to boot--what a pain in the ash (maple in this case) and yes I cruise the neighborhood stalking the soon-to-be falling timber on my little bicycle--just another case of low maintenance
I like your ride. I totally get the same thing when I approach the scene of a big job as a woman. Glad you could get your friend on the job so you can lock in your wood score.
time will tell on how much wood I get--I work fulltime but drive by the "scene" each day to and from the salt mine and keep my eye on it--mostly no one wants to do anything--we are a nation of apathy and couch potatoes--you'd think they'd applaud us girls with some get up and go....(and seek us out for dates)
all you'll be "spreadin'" is marmalade on your toast as you read this thread-- and i'll be way busy bringing load after load home when this project gets a-rollin'--stay tuned Kentucky...
