I have a dewalt 18v 1/2" impact wrench been beating it for years great tool. We have an 18v Milwaukee drill it just runs and runs. The ir 20v makes up to 1100ftlbs of torgue highest by far.
1100 ft-lbs - is insane out of a cordless.... How many 2" bolts are you tightening with it???? I know I know its all about breaking the tough ones loose
Just remember those torque ratings can be inflated to the point of which they are a useless comparison. Especially if a tool is advertised with a much higher rating than the competition but is built with similar tech. Phrases like "nut busting torque" or "max/peak torque" are dead giveaways that the marketing department wrote the specs. The very best cordless impacts on the market are rated at around 450lb ft in reverse. 1100ft lbs just ain't happening with a 1/2" cordless.
Yeah im skeptical for sure trying to get my work to get some to try first . Snap on had one in the 600ft lbs but it may have been 3/4. I'm just dreaming anyways.
The Snap-On CT7850 is rated around 600ft lb of "break-away" torque. The real rating is in the fine print at 450lb ft. I have a CT4850HO and when I'm away from the shop, it's indispensable. Well worth the $$.
The rating on impacts is nearly as bad as guys lying about fish size, truck horsepower or... "spigot" length. The 1/2" air impact I have, Ingersol Rand 2135... lists as 1000ft/lbs .... yeah... right... sure. Funny how my 1" gun which you need 2 hands to use and weighs probably 20lbs is rated at that as well. It buzzes off nuts no sweat that the 1/2" gun goes crying back to the toolbox on.
Had a buddy brag about how great his new 3/4" air gun was said it could out do my tired old 1" gun needless to say he wasn't so proud after a head to head comparison. But hey what's better than shiny new tools even if it is just hype that sold you.
