We hear lots of bad things about some web sites but not all are bad

Dennis, that was a good deed you did. Heart breaking when it is someone so poor that they don't even have transportation. Doesn't hold well for the dog to get vet care it it needs it. When that poor, most folks will get state aid that helps with medical bills for the humans, but not the pets. We have some food banks around here that give out pet food. So many seniors here living in poverty.
I go on FB to keep up with some old school friends and some old buddies from work. But mostly it is to keep up with family. They all post pictures and stories there. As for junk, I filter out a lot of the junk. I ignore all the game invites. I also made it very clear not to send me any political stuff. That political stuff pushes me over the edge. There is a thread for giving stuff away. I've used that to post stuff I don't want. Someone will send me a PM. I firm it up. Tell them I'll leave it at the end of the driveway. (dead end road). They pick it up and never drive into the yard. Works for me to have it go to someone who wants it.

 

I honestly never thought someone would go looking for their lost dog on facebook. We have the same local FB yardsale page here along with several other lost pet FB pages which I posted to when I found this adorable fella. FB didn't find his owner - I did, and regret it ever since, little guy may end up here as the owners told my GF that he's starting to be a nuisance.

I did see one reunite on the local FB dog/cat lost&found this past week - it works for folks that probably live on FB

 

Local news station on Facebook has a pet connection, they are almost daily finding lost dogs and cats or finding new Holmes for strays.
The garage sale pages do the same.

News comes in more accurately and quickly as well.

It's just like life, surround or friend the good ones unlike in follow the nastys.

 

Very cool story Dennis! You did your good deed for the day. Sad to hear about their situation. If they seemed like honest hard working people and not addicts, maybe an anonymous auto parts, or pet store gift card donation could show up in their mailbox? I'd contribute via PayPal.

 

FB is great for reuniting lost pets with anxious owners. NH ASPCA and Animal Rescue League (and other rescue sites), as well as many local PD's will post up Found pets on FB and everyone shares them. Not many of them don't find their way back home that way.

Ahh, so they still haven't learned how to contain it? Didn't sound like it would work out after hearing how many times in a week he lost the little guy. Thing is, he probably is legally bound to return it to the shelter he got it from (he better check his adoption paperwork) - most do this. Although if he got it from a pound, they may not have that requirement.

 

FB and Mark Zuckerburg are evil. They routinely censor anyone/anything that is not part of the ultra PC, statist, globalist, NWO agenda.

There are plenty of alternative social media platforms. All you have to do is choose to use them.

 

As mentioned before, there are several groups to include the local animal shelters who post about lost animals on FB. We also have the local yard sales etc. Many groups like my HS group. I have had my account hacked. Lots of tricks in there getting at your lists of friends. Never, repeat never respond to any of the bleeding heart postings. That is often how they hook you. The free stuff add are also bogus. Lots of the sensational stuff are lies so don't fall into those traps either. It is sort of like the pit falls of e-mail. Keep your postings clean and you have nothing to fear. There are many filters on FB that you can put in place. All in all, for a free service, not a bad deal when all I have to do is be cautious.

Same goes for Google Starbucks target ect ect.
You can fight back on FB it's just a pain.
