I'll start thinking about that in late August, we do have plenty of seasoned wood. When we were only two years ahead on the wood supply I would worry about the inventory but not since Backwoods Savage would say once you get two years ahead go for three if you have room, we only have room for about six NY State f/c. We have over five years worth of wood so I just need to cover this years wood. I cleaned the double wall pipe in January so I'll clean that again in August along with the wood stove.
I'm pretty full up, just a little more cutting to do, but basically out of room... I keep some ready to go this fall under cover for about 6 months... About a cord and a half. Here's some more about 6 cords or so... Have another 2 cords in another spot If I want more wood, I need to figure out another new storage location...
Me and the wood are ready!! But the house isn't yet, but should be done being built by November. The stove isn't either. Currently getting the custom artwork drawn up at Woodstock, colors are picked. Hopefully everything will fall in to place and will be burning 3 summer old oak for the cold winter and boxelder for the shoulder season in the new Ideal Steel!!
There's a few new stoves out there that are not ready for winter.....this year or next year. Hopefully, those that own them will finally catch on. (yeah, right)
Im pretty close but need a bit more. Im able to harvest standing dead larch, fir and lodgepole pine so its ok if its not all c,s,s yet. Maybe another 3 stacked pick up loads full and then Ill be done.
One more session at the splitter outta finish the Beech, then I'll have '17-18 done. I'll be calling for another delivery in a couple weeks to get started on '18-19. My burn season starts in about 75 days.
892 days left until winter of '18 - just about ready for that one too. This is what I'll be burning this year - some maple from last summer, and black locust from 3 summers ago.
I only used about 1/4 of the wood that I had set aside for last winter, I've already re-filled in that stack and it's ready to go for this winter now. I do have to split my wood for 18/19, but the rounds are all stacked on pallets ready to go. And there's enough bucked up rounds on the ground in the woods for 19/20, but I'll probably give that to my dad. Like I mentioned in my other thread, the EAB has killed enough ash trees on my little 1 acre patch of woods to keep me warm for 8 years or so.
Well, I think we have enough wood. If I said not, the guys who were here at the gtg would no doubt argue! The stove does need some work though. We'll be going into our 10th year burning with this stove and it finally needs some new gaskets and we also need to put a new scoop into it. Now to find the time and the ability is the problem. Working on things like that can really get my back going in bad ways. However, it will have to be done before September. It will get done.
