Got a call about a load of wood we could have at a new house construction sight. The builder said it
's mostly ash. It turned out to be only about five minutes from my house so my friend and I met up this morning to cut a couple of loads.
Now I can ID some wood but I'm far from an expert. I know my oaks and hickories, maples and sycamore but ash and poplar look pretty much the same to me. As soon as my MS391 took a bite and cut like butter I said "poplar". The round dropped to the ground and I saw the green heart wood and I knew it. My friend said "green ash" but I'm not buying it. What do you think?

    Looks like poplar...but it burns...
will work good for shoulder season or day time fires when your home...its all BTU's:yes:
I'm also putting poplar on the bottom couple rows when I stack. Keeps the gooder stuff up off the ground a little
