I hear you. I'm good on hardware, but I need to keep up with the consumables. ;)

Since that last scare I started stockpiling more than I used to. Centerfire rebounded pretty quickly, I only have about 3x of what I used to keep pre-2008. We all know that rimfire is still kind of scarce, I have about 10x what I used to keep on hand.

I still don't reload, but I've been keeping my brass for the past 5 years or so. This year I finally bought powder, primers, and some .357 and 9mm bullets. I still need to get a press and the other equipment, hopefully I'll be able to scrape enough money together before the election.

I haven't slowed down a lick since 2012 panic. I've got 10 plus years of pistol powder, projectiles, and primers. Rifle supplies are at around 5 years and that will be added to soon.

Hell I just bought reloading components for 300blackout and I don't even own one (yet) :D

I like Lee stuff. You can get going for relatively cheaply. And add that you can make ammo for almost half of what 9mm costs and about pennies on the dollar for calibers like .44 and .45colt

If a guy starts casting, it gets even better $$$ wise. And is another fun part of the hobby.

We're on the same page, I've already decided on a Lee Classic 4 hole turret. Things just keep coming up that require my spending money. Next month a buddy of mine is having his bachelors party (for a wedding in February, go figure). After renting the chalet and gas/food/beer/entertainment for the weekend in the Smokies, I figure that weekend will run me $500. If this wasn't a friend I've known since I was 4 years old I'd probably skip the whole thing.

I have that press and love it. It's far from a match grade machine but it is more than safe and pumps out pretty consistent ammo evendors with the lee auto disk that I have on it. You can get a better lee measures for it and or get the adjustment bar to get more precise loads but I just have the disk.

I started out with Lee single stage to see how I liked it. Should of just gone to the turret. I'm so fast with it! I still have the single for the 06 and other rifle loads I may do.

I have the stuff to cast and several hundred pounds of lead...just haven't done it yet. I don't have much time these days and I figure I will pay the price of the decent cast that I buy now.

Unfortunately none of it has been on guns or ammo for me. Stupid medical bills.

I have a few things to get when the cash flow gets better.

I did a lot of stocking in the months leading up to the 2012 election. After the ammo drought following the '08 election, which didn't really abate until Sept. of '09, I decided to get a fill-up while the shelves where full. I paid particular attention to .22 which was the last thing to come back. Somewhere in these pages I have a picture of a 50cal ammo can full of it.

    I'm in good shape. :)

    Yes...
I own no firearms, but I am striving to be self sustainable in consumables. I am also working on different water collection, purification, and stockpiling methods. So far it has been over five years since I have used tap water on my many potted plants and garden.
Trying to get a good supply of useful household items that I cannot produce myself. Have lots of wood. My survivalist mind thinks water, shelter, fire, and food. Getting there...

So are you stock piling ammo??? I thought from the sound of it at first you were but them I'm like maybe not?? Just cause you own no guns is not a reason not to stockpile ammo if you want it? If something happens and it hits the fan ammo will be a valuable commodity and trade fodder. Plus I have hundreds of rounds for calibers I don't even own and no plans anytime soon to own, but like I said that stuff is only increasing in value and won't go down in value.

I meant yes stockpiling more than usual, but so far not guns or ammo. I do wanna get some hunting rifles eventually, but firepower is just not high on my priority list. I do have enough vegetables and food seeds in great varieties to literally feed an army (potentially from what it could grow). I can have edible greens grown to eat in a matter of days in an emergency, in the crazy chance I could not forage any. Growing food is very high priority to me. :)

If you were to need that food ever, so would ithers. Defending your food and self should be high on the list .

I hear that :) I am a wise bird and have some interesting ways to ensure all will be well in any event. I am aware of what could be, and I prepare in laws of redundancy. Back up plan to back up plan etc... eggs dispersed between many, many baskets.
