I've got a decent amount of red oak and lots available because it's pretty common here in NJ. The heat it throws is amazing, its easy to split and doesn't rot easily. I just hate that it takes 3 years to season.

Yep...I'm 3 years ahead so this won't be burned for awhile.

Great score!! Glad to hear your 3 years ahead. It makes everything about burning so much nicer. You've got some monsters there. Looks like you have a pretty nice system to get it to the splitter. lol

Thanks! Yep 3 years ahead= piece of mind. I have a crane winch I use to load rounds in the truck. Then roll rounds straight onto my dual splitter and quarter them.

That crane is a great idea! Makes working by yourself a lot easier.

It's a crane winch that hooks into your hitch. It works great. I bought it on Amazon for 170 and some log tongs. Had hernia surgery last year and don't like leaving big rounds so bought this crane. Crane them up then took em off my truck onto my splitter. No fuss no muss! They have em at harbor freight but those bolt into your truck bed and I didn't feel like putting holes in my truck bed.

I missed out on some free wood because I didn't have a truck to haul it.

And I see you have a helper as well, another set of hands helps to make the work go faster.

So true. Since my son and his family moved in with us, things are so much better. They have their own apartment as we do so it is just like living in a duplex. We share a lot of cooking, shopping and yard work. Plus we have some others to talk to.

Nice scooter! As for the lady, I won't let my lady help with the stacking. She is terrible at it.
