The dead and mayer were in indy Friday night. Local hospitals put up a tent giving the junkies narcan for their overdoses. They ran out very early! They evidently had to get more rushed in by ambulance to the venue from another hospital! Wtf is wrong with people? Enjoy the shows UncleJoe
Yep... addiction is an awful thing. It effects every level of the social ladder too. Very sad... I bet that was a good show in Indy...
I talked to the nurse who took the phone call at the hospital from the tent employee. No links, but I guarantee its not a rumor.
In my experience, this is very uncommon with this scene. While I am sure its possible, its the first time I personally have ever heard of opiate use/abuse, then to go and say it was heavy abuse to the point of needing the narcan? Just seems odd for this crowd. Doesn't quite add up, why are junkies spending money on tickets to a concert?
Around here its a very affluent area. Tons of "kids" who have tons of mommys money, pill problems and have switched to the smack since it's so cheap compared to the pills. I agree it's odd for the scene (I've got some hippy friends and have been to a couple shows), but my guess is that most of these od people were the locals out there getting other stuff off the lot and campgrounds and not your true head who tours. I agree, it seemed odd for the little I know. Basically, I think our local population of addicts all congregated in this 1 location, hence the large # of issues. Fwiw, I drove by the campgrounds just to look, and noticed the crowd seemed younger than when I went . Maybe I'm just getting older (38) lol
Clears it up... did seem odd. But All Good, and now Lockn are similar to that scene. I've lost many friends to that crap.
The new about heroin use is terrible in Maine and New Hampshire. Many deaths from overdosing. There is a tremendous amount of public education which needs to be done. Filling up the jails will will have little impact on the problem.
I survived. 3 days and just shy of 1200 miles. Man I don't remember being this tired after just a couple shows when I did this kinda thing in my 20's and 30's. Maybe my body is a little older than my mind is telling me. You couldn't have asked for a nicer day. I haven't been there since '85. I had almost forgotten what a beautiful place it is. Thanks for the bail money offer but I managed to keep myself out of trouble. Here is the set list in case you haven't seen it: Feel Like a Stranger Here Comes Sunshine Brown Eyed Women Loser Little Red Rooster Cassidy Deal SET 2 Iko Iko Estimated Prophet China Cat Sunflower I Know You Rider Drums Space Uncle John's Band Days Between Good Lovin' ENCORE Brokedown Palace 2nd ENCORE Johnny B. Goode There is definitely new kids coming in to the scene. Back in the day (in my 20's/early 30's) I would look around and think how much older everyone looked. Guess it's all a matter of perspective. And here is the set list from Va. Sugar Mag was killer! Cold rain and snow New speedway El Paso They love each other Candyman Jam> Bird song> Space jam> Bird song> Don't ease Lost sailor> St. of circumstance> Viola lee blues> Jam> Viola lee blues Lady with a fan> Terrapin station> Drums> Space> Dear Prudence> Sugar mags> Sunshine Daydream E: Black Muddy River
Indeed! I reconnected with an old touring friend last year after not seeing her for 20+ years. We had a great time!
Yes, lots of younger people there at Citi Field too. I didn't know that I had pit tickets till we got there and was handed them. We got a lot closer to the stage by the end of the show. Its nice not being able to see the screens on the outsides of the speakers. I only had one $14.25 can of beer so I didn't have to run to the Johnny-on-the-spot multiple times. Good show.
I just checked on tickets for Pittsburgh. There are a lot of actual seats still available in the pavilion. Then there is the lawn too. Guess I'll head West next month. My playing partner grew up there and will have a place to crash for the night.
