Well I found some big red oak rounds the other day. So my wife let me go play for my father's day treat lol. So I took the 044 and 590. The bar is a used 25 inch on the 044 and I think the groove is wore bad. The chain seemed to move in the bar too much. So I switched to the 590 and it did good for awhile. I shut it off for a few minutes went t start it and it raced wide open and died. It did this several times. I adjusted the carb and nothing changed. Never had a problem with this saw. So I gave up and headed home. I didn't come home with a single piece of wood lol. They were some big rounds.

Probably fuel lines. If they get pin holes they can do that. Ethanol fuel is horrible for eating up lines and gaskets

Yeah sounds like an air leak. A pressure and vacuum test will tell you where.

I only run non ethanol. So I was really suprised at how it was acting. I'm going to try and tear into it this week.

I was kinda thinking along those lines but this thing is only about a year old. I hoped it would hold together longer than this lol.

I've never done a test or really done much work on saws. I need to read up on it and get this thing figured out.

Sounds about like my Father's day, I spent $50 and 4 hours trying to fix trouble codes on the dash of my truck and didn't accomplish anything.

I had a similar thing happen with my ms362. I feared an air leak, but the problem turned out to be mechanical: there was a return spring in the throttle linkage that was getting stuck. The last time I had used the saw before I started having the problem, it had taken a little tumble off a stump I had it set on while it was running.

Regarding the chain seeming loose in the groove, are you sure you have the correct gauge of chain on there? Perhaps the bar is .063 gauge. Can you get a close up pic of the engraved part # on the bar?

I was thinking it might be a .063. It's worn pretty bad but I'll look tonight after work. I could measure it but I don't have any calipers.

I still had it in my phone.

    3003 000 8830

It comes up as .050 when I searched.

Wait! Couldn't you put those 2 rounds on your shoulder and take them home?

    That is some beautiful wood!

I would have rolled them on the trailer if I could have lol. I'm getting another bar and going back this weekend. They are in front of a tree service. When they get too much wood they fill a big roll off dumpster and haul it off. I hope they are still there.
