Might be kick'n myself for this, but have a new PSA upper on it's way. 18" SS in .223 Wylde, flat top w/ classic hand guard. 1/7 but would have preferred 1/8- 1/9. I wasn't shopping for another upper, but I'm really becoming a fan of the Wylde chamber, seems to eat everything. Checked my e-mail and there you go.....Father's Day special. Cost- $270 to the shop. Cons- no BCG or CH, but I have those. Comments?? Let 'em rip.......
Nice! I've heard psa shipping has gotten much faster lately. I don't know why you'd kick yourself...I bet it shoots just fine at a 7 twist. My 7 shoots 55gr premium loads sub moa.
Well then, I won't beat myself up too much. Optics? Thinking about a Burris 2 x 7, just 'cause I have one laying around.
All around good stuff. You don't need the slower twist unless your shooting heavier bullets. If you shoot 55gr the 1:7 is the one to have.
Depends on what you want to do with the rifle the 1-7 gives the option of shooting heavier pills, wich increases range. Burris has decent stuff, nothing wrong with it. If you want to buy something new look into vortex.
Well, new scope on its way for the new platform. Gotta love Father's Day deals !! Thanks to "Boomstick", a new Vortex Crossfire II in 4 x 12 x 44 will get put to use in a few weeks. It had good reviews, so WTH, they have a great warranty program if something goes south. Just need some QD rings, I'll be golden.............hmmmm.
OK- I love the balance of the new 18" upper. Tried to sight in with open sights yesterday, but the rear fold-down wasn't even close, so had to drop to 25yrds. And then started having lite strikes on the primers, so I packed it up before going further. The Vortex has still not shown up, fault is all on Fed-Ex. FedEx sucks in the mountains, even being 7 blocks from my shop, on the same street. I should have a valid up-date in a month. JB
update- No, I haven't shot it yet. I finally received the scope, over 5 weeks from ordering it. Installed on the Burris PEPR mount today, but no range time. I did get the new Shockwave-Raptor grip installed on the H&R 12g. along with the 6rnd. Tac-Star side saddle carrier. Had to clearance the fore end but its good to go now. Range time and results soon. Oh yeah, new trigger group in and apparently working as it should. It never ends, does it.....
