Well I was up early and it hadn't hit us too bad yet with the snow, so off I went to spend some time on the beech. :tree: It was starting to come pretty good by the time I put the saws in the truck. There was a dead red oak also that must have went down when the big beechs went. 1st load of stuff that I could lift and then came back with the ramp for the second load but even with the ramp the big suckers were a struggle. The monster maul just bounced off of them and I wasn't fooling with them any more it was time to head back to the shack to clean the driveway. I wouldn't want to be out there now it looks like a white out around here.

Locust, do you have any screws or nails in the ramp? Sure helps, especially in the winter. I remember when I worked in the mill we always saved the old saw teeth and drove those into the ramps we used. Worked like a charm.

    Mighty fine looking wood
Gonna get lots of splits from that last load of rounds.

Pulleys ropes & winches can be a help too :)

That is one of a set of ramps I use to load the mower and was originally for my son's atv so I'll have to leave the sharp objects off. The problem today was the beech bark is so smooth and then the snow made it hard to really get a grip to roll them over up the ramp.

Yes Bogy a winch would come in handy.

Looks like you had a good morning also Zap

Thanks Fuzz...I'm sure you are getting hit a little harder than us. I believe you are in the snow belt.

Nice and warm in here too. The wind is keeping the roads a mess. They have called off church for tomorrow so I guess i'll just stay in and feed the fire tomorrow if I can stand it...I get cabin fever very easy.

Nice mornings work. I headed out early too. I live in southern Ohio and it was whipping wind and snowing pretty hard. After some thought, I headed out of the woods and loaded up some Red Oak for weight in the truck. I didn't want to drop a tree with the wind blowing like it was. I'm jealous that you got to get some work done.

I hear you OS...I wouldn't have wanted to drop anything today, these were already down but I hadn't found them till last weekend. Every day of work this week I thought of working on them so I was glad I could. It wasn't bad in the woods but after I got back out on the road I was glad I only had 5 miles to home. Several more loads right in that spot.

Great job and a nice load of wood to boot! I was going to cut yesterday but after plowing for hours I decided to spend the afternoon with the kiddo sledding. Dang that wind was nasty yesterday!

I meant to say earlier that I'm glad to see someone else uses my trick for getting rounds on the truck also. I always use ate least one ramp if not two as its the only way my back handles dealing with the big rounds!

Nice load Locust!! Those rounds are nice and big...

Your a true trooper for getting out there today!! Temperature wasn't bad, but the blowing wind/snow is terrible. I have a drift well over 4 ft in front if my house.

Beech and Red Oak?? I need to come cutting with you ;)
