MMMMMM! Ribeye cooked over a charcoal closed lid grill! Yup! Iowa is looking good all of a sudden. :D

French roast in a turkish grind. Smoked paprika, chipotle, cumin, salt, sugar.

I like coffee, and I like steak, but I don't care for a coffee rub. I tried it on some pork once but wasn't a fan. Maybe its better on beef?

We will find out. This is a first for me.

The rub is getting to know the steak. Will fire up the grill shortly.

Racing against time. It's dropped 25 degrees in the last hour and I can hear thunder rolling in.

Cooked them on the coals, plated and then we lost power. Ate by lantern light.

I put coffee in my go-to pork rub. It most definitely adds a different dimension, and no complaints from the consumers.

Sounds like we're up for storms tomorrow. Hope your electricity isn't out for long. It's definitely A/C weather here.

I can just imagine not telling my wife about it and then her seeing me throw steaks right on the coals. That would be fun.... of course once I learned what I was doing....

I used ash. I brushed it off with a pastry brush once it was done.

Those steaks look fantastic. I have done a coffee rub before, using a really coarse grind, mixing about half and half with coarse ground pepper corns. Put about a half tablespoon on each side.... Share your recipe please.

3 parts fine ground coffee (turkish grind)
    3 parts ground chipotle
    3 parts sugar
    1 part smoked paprika
    1 part cumin

Salt the steaks ahead of time.
