As most know I sold almost everything to relocate to St. Croix USVI. Well we needed a place to live for about 6 months to finalize everything. Wife went looking in a neighborhood she likes to see if anything had a for rent sign. Instead she found a nice house priced right and bought it. Great we can sell it and basically live there for free. Now phase 2 she finds another house down the block going into foreclosure and gets a deal on it, right place right time and we have cash. It needs some work but I figure we should clear 20-25 G on it for about a months work. Not sure where it fits into the schedule but I guess I will have to work it out. it will be convenient as it is only 5 houses down from ours. Then she informs me she found 2 lots, 1 acre with house that needs torn down and 3 acres with new barn, that have to sell together but can be split after purchase. I confirmed this with the town. So she wants to tear down the house on the acre, put a spec on it and sell it, paying for both lots with a small profit. Now we have a 3 acre lot "free" and some place to build on if we have to come back. If we do not come back it would be in the 50,000 range to sell it. Beautiful country setting, wooded, and backs up to a horse farm. So, our 6 month departure might be pushed back slightly. I am thinking we will be here a year.
ironpony I think this last winter was too mild so your WIFE changed your plans that NEVER happens I see your wife getting her real estate license... you will winter in St. Croix, and play 6 months a year at home for same money... I am just guessing
Perhaps when this is over, you should keep most of your money in a different account and not let her know where it is? Sounds good though. It certainly could be worse.
Sounds like you really don't want to leave and if you do you better put a for sale sign on da wife . LOL
Lets hope one of those places has a wood stove, oh better get some wood cut so you are not burning sub par wood ya know.
