Not much more snow here, I'll take 5-6 inches of snow just so we can take the sleds out.

Been a while. Probably a week or more. I think I told you about it when I tried to take the dogs for a walk out around the path and told you I was breaking through the ice and felt like I was going to twist my ankle every step I took. Like I said, it hurt to try to walk through it. So, I guess things have probably not changed much have they? Since then? Because it has been a frigid cold week and a half. :( I don't know what it is like where you are but the ice layer under the snow is nasty here. You have been doing a little work in the woods though. Eh?

The trails that I've been running on are like rock, off the trails you'll break through after walking on it a few times.

One trail that I never kept running on since it started snowing, I tried today but kept breaking through so I backed out of it, it was all uphill or I could've run it.

So the ones like rock are just well traveled and packed down? Is that what you mean? Are they covered in hard enough ice that the ice is like rock?

    Yes.

Where the tire tracks are, just packed down, harder than a rock .... not ice.

Once we get enough snow, it will be nice to see if we can pack the trail down enough with sleds that I can still run the rhino on them.

I have plenty of damaged trees just off the trail that I could still cut, I've talked to Blevin's about ordering this, it might not happen until next year or when I can save up the cash.

Pete, is it snowing? It's still pretty windy here and we got about 2" with another 4" on the way.

Yeah it's still blowing hard down here right now. I'm sitting here and the snow is blowing so hard off my garage roof that I can't see out past my driveway. I was thinking of cutting wood today but not in this crap!

Yup loading my truck the other day SUCKED BIG TIME! I had to come in every 10 minutes just to get warm again. The wind was cutting right through my thermals and arctic cloves too. On the bright side I got to stand by a nice hot stove to do it.:fire:

All I can say is this has been the coldest winter I've experienced down south.
Had a stretch around the 7-10th that went to 5F without breaking freezing, this weeks been "milder" with lows ~12-17 highs of 34-37, and another front coming Monday night...supposed to be colder than Anchorage Alaska - again
BRING ON THE 60'S!!!!! - so says the weather man next week:cool:

below zero till Wednesday overnight lows and negative highs Monday / Tuesday. I've already put in a request to my buddy to sell me a load of firewood. I didn't get everything split up and I burned a lot more than I thought I would. I don't think i'll make it till the end of march without an infusion of wood. next year, i'll be better prepared.

I have a natural gas h.e. furnace, but I like the stove more obviously. :fire:

Just read my signature for the current temps -- Almost always burning pine.

Anytime it gets above 20 wood use drops noticeably. Seems to be another big dropoff around 40-- I can get 24-36 hours between fires at that point.
