My old portable air conditioner seems to have pooped out after 3-4 years of use. Did my research and found out that the single hose units create negative air pressure, . I'm really anal about that problem so I looked for a portable unit that hasn't this issue. The window units are OK, but the portable ones are the ones with the negative air problems. Seems this is resolved by the use of portable units that have dual hoses. Further research shows they are more energy efficient. So I selected this unit: Whynter ARC-14SH Dual Hose Portable AC Unit & Heater It never really gets hot hot in this new living area, the tile floors help with that. But it can get too warm and humid. This unit has a dehumidifier part to it. I have two fairly new dehumidifiers but they tend to make the area too warm. This unit should cool and dehumidify all at the same time, plus no pan to empty. The site I ordered from said same or next day shipping. I ordered this last week. I contacted them today. They said the factory is backed up, but they anticipate shipping by Monday. Lets hope so.
we have a very similar one at work for an emergency in any of the many shelters. It doesn't cool much, the two hoses need to be routed to a window and the condensate drain has to be routed to pan if you don't have a way to get it into an outside drain. There's no way it can "condition" air without removing humidity so the condensate has to go somewhere

it must have a way of pumping the condensation into the exhaust duct flex hose, or evaporating it on the condenser side of the AC unit which would pump it into the outside air. The units come with a adjustable plastic plate and two adapters to plumb the hoses through a window. It should work for you in ME, even better if you have a ceiling fan to help circulate.
I have five ceiling fans installed in this house. I even use them in the winter. Solved my heat distribution issues with a pellet stove. Any room I am in has a fan on. Sometimes two or three. My wife likes a warm room most of the time so I have to have a fan aimed at me so I won't feel like I am suffocating. This air conditioner won't have to work too hard here in Maine. Just enough to keep the room at 78-80 F The smaller unit I used last year did the trick just fine, but every year is different. One year, I didn't use AC at all. Other years, we use it every day for about 3 weeks then occasionally. I can't sleep in too warm a room. Wife piles on her comforters, me, nothing and my fan. 47 years living like that! Even my dogs like the fans. The cats, not so much.
That can be warm if the RH is high. I have my central AC unit cut down to 74 in the morning ~0400 when outside heat exchange is optimal, then 76 until 0800 and it rarely runs. daytime 80F then 76F in the evening ~1700 Coming into the house at 76F with low humidity after diving in the pool is like walking into an icebox
trust me, the wife will never let it feel like an icebox. She goes outside only for short times, then right back inside. Only having the grand kids here as gotten her outside for a while.
